Brunt To Be Offered Deal

Wednesday winger Chris Brunt will enter discussions in to an extended contract offer this summer according to Owls boss Brian Laws.

The Northern Irish youngster was inspirational for Wednesday last season and has attracted the interest of a number of Premiership clubs recently, with his future still in the balance in the close season.

But the Owls gaffer is keen to keep his prized players at S6 as he gears up for a promotion push next term - and is hoping Brunt will put pen to paper on a new extended deal at Hillsborough.

And Laws insists negotiations are still on going with striker Steve Maclean.

'We have had discussions. He has had a super season; he's been outstanding,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

'We are also still in negotiations with Steve MacLean. The situation is ongoing. Sometimes negotiations are plain sailing. Sometimes they can be a little bit dragged out.'

Brunt still has one year left to run on his current Owls deal but the club could risk losing the midfielder for nothing at the end of next term should he fail to sign a new deal at S6.

This could well be the signing of the summer if we manage to get Brunty tied to a longer deal. Will almost certainly mean he's here for next season and if he does decide to move on we'll get a bit of cash for him.
