Owls 'Close' To Signing

Wednesday manager Brian Laws has revealed he is 'very close' to completing his first pre-season signing as he looks to bolster his squad for a promotion push next term.

The season is only a matter of weeks old but Laws has already been linked with a number of players rumoured to be making the move to S6 this summer.

But the Owls gaffer has revealed that he'll be putting an end to all the speculation and is hopeful that he'll be making his first summer signing shortly.

'We're very close (to a signing). We're really pleased with the way things are going at the moment,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

'We're hoping to bring in one or two players to strengthen the team.'

Scunthorpe striker Billy Sharp has been linked with a move to Hillsborough recently but it's unlikely the hitman will be the name revealed by Laws - with the Owls boss refusing to be drawn in to an auction for League One's leading scorer.

The Owls boss has made a goalkeeper a priority and could well reveal his new number one as early as next week with Hartlepool United stopper Dimi Konstantopoulos and Derby 'keeper Lee Grant top of Laws' wanted list.

Lets dream and hope that its billy sharp. It will clearly be lee grant though. Who knows, Laws may suprise us with a player who hasn't even been linked with us! I trust his judgement.
