Wednesday's Biggest Signing?

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is in negotiations with Chris Brunt over a new deal at Hillsborough - could this be the biggest signing of the summer for the Owls? We're asking you!

This week's poll is asking Vital Sheffield Wednesday users whether the Wednesday wing wizard will be Brian Laws' top signing this summer, or whether we're still looking outside the club for the biggest signing of the season.

As you know, the Northern Irish international has been linked with a number of Premiership clubs lately with Wigan and Fulham the latest to be showing their interest in his services for next season.

And with just one year left on his Owls' contract, Wednesday could well be forced to cash in on his services earlier than next summer rather than risk losing him for nothing with a £2m fee being banded around in the press.

Brunt was arguably the clubs best player last season having netting ten goals from the left wing and being influention in a host of others.

Former Wednesday boss Chris Turner was the man who brought him to S6 after being deemed surplus to requirements in Middlesbrough's youth set up, and it took some time for Brunt to make his mark on the Wednesday faithful, although the quality was always there in patches.

But last season was Brunt's best for the club, impressing scouts and critics up and down the country for the Owls and on the international stage for Northern Ireland.

And this summer could well prove to be key in securing the youngster to a new deal with Wednesday, and help the Owls for a push for promotion following a superb term last season under the guidance of Brian Laws.

Brunt has already said he'll be going nowhere this season unless the Owls want to sell him on, but is still in the early stages over discussing a new contract with the Owls.

Talking to the Sheffield Star about the offer of a new deal, Brunt said: 'There's nothing sorted yet. Nothing much has happened.

'I've spoken to the gaffer about it; that's about as far as it's gone at the moment. I've got another year left and, unless the club want to sell me, I'll be going nowhere.'

So do you think Brunt signing a new deal will be the signing of the summer for the club or not? Have your say by voting in this week's poll, and why not go on to the Vital Sheffield Wednesday forums and have your say?

Come on Wednesday, offer him a massive contract and get him signed up asap. We don't want another Maclean situation next year...

A years extention is the very least we should be getting him to sign. When he eventually leaves we need to get a large fee for him, a better season than last could push that upto the 5 million mark. These Wigan and Fullham rumours sound like paper talk. I'd hope he sets his sights a bit higher than going to a team that will struggle in the premership next season.

Undoubtedly, unless we sign Beckham on loan, or Robbie Fowler!

Depends how much he wants, if he wants to much and a club want him for £3million plus i would sell him.
will it ever happen
