'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Greatest Ever Owls Goalkeeper

Last week's forum poll is done and dusted and the Vital SWFC members have voted for Kevin Pressman as the Greatest Ever Owls Goalkeeper.

Kevin made 478 appearances over 19 seasons for the Owls, facing strong competition for his place in the team from a number of outstanding Wednesday keepers - Chris Woods and Martin Hodge amongst them. He is Sheffield Wednesday's second highest post-war appearance maker, behind legendary winger Alan Finney. He also had three outings for the England 'B' team.

He signed his first professional contract for the Owls in 1985, debuting against the Saints on September 5th 1987, and his last game for the Owls was on the final day of the 2003/4 season, at home against QPR.

A great shot stopper, saving (and scoring!) penalties, loyalty and tremendous application to the job make him our choice for the Greatest Ever Owls Team.

Honourable mentions this week go to Ron Springett and Martin Hodge, the fantastic players who pushed Big Kev the closest in our poll.

This week's forum poll is for the Greatest Ever Owls Right Back, and we're also asking for nominations for the Greatest Ever Owls Centre Backs. We'll announce the results for Right Back next Saturday!
