Owl Backing Blades

It's not often Wednesday fans show support for United, in fact they should never do so! But Owls fan David Blunkett MP is doing just that to help the Blades in their current battle.

Our friends from across the city are still trying to keep their place in the Premiership despite being relegated on the last day of the season after falling to defeat at home to Wigan while West Ham triumphed at Old Trafford.

United felt that the Upton Park club should have been docked points from the Carlos Tevez affair rather than receive a £5.5m fine - with the decision ultimately costing Neil Warnock and his men a place in the top flight just a year after achieving promotion.

And Blunkett, who is regularly seen attending matches at Hillsborough when his hectic schedule allows him, will be one of 50 MPs supporting their campaign when their attempt to overturn their relegation will be decided on June 18.

As much as we here at Vital Sheffield Wednesday admire Mr Blunkett's stance for one of the sporting clubs in the Steel City, we very much hope he'll be in attendance at Hillsborough next season to see the Owls demolish the Championship newboys in the Sheffield derby next season!
