Wednesday Set For Thursday

Wednesday's clash with Rotherham United in the Carling Cup first round has been moved to a Thursday night to be screened live on Sky Sports.

The fixture will now be played on Thursday August 15 with a 7.45pm kick-off for live TV coverage, but the news of the move is sure to bring a mixed reaction from Owls fans.

The move will mean Wednesday face the Millers just two days before their first home clash of the season in the Championship against Mick McCarthy's Wolves side on the Saturday.

And it could mean Owls boss Brian Laws fields a second string for the short trip to face Mark Robins' men, with the Owls' league campaign taking priority over cup matches.

Ticket details are still to be announced for the fixture.
