'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Vital Owls' Fixture Reaction

The Owls' 2007/08 season opener at Ipswich Town was met with mixed reaction from the regulars on the Vital Sheffield Wednesday forums.

Wednesday enjoyed taking six points from Jim Magilton's men last season - with Brian Laws opening match as Owls boss resulting in victory at Portman Road.

And although many Vital regulars feel Wednesday could get off to a winning start in Suffolk on August 11, many are also wary at the difficult yet exciting start to the season.

US Owl said: 'Tough start, but I'm sure the guys will be confident and hit the ground running. We do well in the opening few weeks, it will give us an awesome start. If we end up in the play-offs, save me a seat, I'll be booking my plane ticket back home!'

hellboy0628 said: 'It's a strange opening to the season with a few stern games but will prove whether our optimism is justified or ill-fated won't it?'

JoshOwl said: 'Tough tough start, but it will test us out and see if we are promotion material.'

And Smurf will be hoping the opening day clash with the Tractor Boys proves to be a good sign.

He added: 'Did we not play Ipswich away the first game of the season, the year that we got promotion in the early 90's? We won 4-2 I think, and Hirsty got two and I think Sheridan may have scored a penalty.'
