Hills Set For Seasiders

Former Wednesday defender John Hills could be coming up against his former colleagues next season should he put pen to paper on a deal with Championship new-boys Blackpool.

The former Gillingham left-back was one of a number of Wednesday players to be let go by boss Brian Laws as he looks to rebuild his squad for the forthcoming season.

But he could still find himself plying his trade in the Championship next season with a third spell at the Bloomfield Road club after holding preliminary discussions with Seasiders manager Simon Grayson and chairman Karl Oyston.

Hills started his career on the coast as a trainee before moving to Everton in 1995 for a three-year stint. He was loaned out to Swansea before making a return to Blackpool to make 141 appearances before a free transfer move to Gillingham.

Hills had a stop-start career at Hillsborough making 41 appearances in a two year spell at S6, and was keen to prove Laws his worth towards the end of last season but fell down the pecking order behind Tommy Spurr and Peter Gilbert.
