'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Owls Target Considering Options

Wednesday target David Carney has said he will consider his options before next month's Asian Cup in light of interest from the Owls.

Owls boss Brian Laws has been linked with a move for the Sydney FC star and Australian international after his superb recent form down under, and Carney is considering a switch to England.

'I love Sydney, but I feel to become a more professional footballer maybe I need to take one of these offers,' Carney told the Sheffield Star.

'I haven't really made up my mind what to do. I'm still considering my options. I'm signed for another two years with Sydney and I'm happy to stay with Sydney.

'I'd maybe know by mid-July, definitely by the end of July. I want to be playing football regularly, playing a lot of games. The only downfall of Sydney is you're playing 20 games and having six months off. At 23, I feel like I'm wasting myself.'

Carney has already tried to break through in England with no luck, after coming through the youth ranks at Everton and trying to impress Halifax Town and Oldham Athletic.

And he could be eager to try for a second time with a number of other English clubs showing an interest in the tricky winger.
