Owls Reject Brunt Bid

Owls Reject Brunt Bid

Wednesday have turned down a bid from Premiership club Fulham for star midfielder Chris Brunt today after the Craven Cottage club fell short of his valuation.

The Northern Irish international attracted the interest of a number of Premiership clubs last season after enjoying a superb season at Hillsborough, with Wigan, Manchester City and West Ham also keen on his signature.

But with the Lawrie Sanchez connection now at Fulham, interest in the Owls' star man was bound to come from West London, and Owls chief executive Kaven Walker revealed Fulham's offer was way short of the club's valuation for Brunt.

'Everyone has their price, but Fulham's offer is a long way short of what we feel he's worth,' Walker told BBC Radio Sheffield.

And Wednesday will not be looking for Fulham to up their price to prize Brunt away from S6 - with Wednesday boss Brian Laws keen to get the youngster to put pen to paper on a new deal with his current contract set to expire next summer.

Walker continued: 'This offer was discussed with Chris on Thursday, and talks are continuing to keep him at Hillsborough.'

No doubt Brunt will be next to leave. Can't see the board missing the oppurtunity to gain an additional £2million plus.
