Watson Set To Sign

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is set to take his summer signature spree to four with former Owls loanee Steve Watson all set to sign from West Brom this week.

The former Newcastle United and Everton man impressed in an eleven-game stint on-loan from the Baggies last term, with Wednesday remaining unbeaten during his time at S6, and Owls boss Laws has swooped quickly to add him to his ranks ahead of the 2007-08 campaign.

The 33-year-old has fallen way down the pecking order under Tony Mowbray's leadership at the Hawthorns and is keen to continue with first team football in the Championship.

Watston still has one year left on his contract at West Brom, but with the utlity man out of Mowbray's plans at the West Midlands club Wednesday are discussions to bring Watson to South Yorkshire on a free transfer or a low nominal fee.

And his signature will provide Laws with a number of options, with Watson excelling in defence and the centre of midfield for Wednesday during his loan spell last term.
