Cocko On Trial - At Leeds!
It hasn't taken very long for former Wednesday defender Graham Coughlan to find himself a new club, as he looks to impress Dennis Wise with a trial at Leeds United.
The Irish centre-back saw his contract with Wednesday terminated by mutual consent earlier this week and troubled Leeds have acted quickly to put Coughlan in to their squad for a pre-season trip to his homeland.
The Elland Road club are still unable to pen any new players to contracts with administration - and possible liquidation - still hovering over Ken Bates' club, but Leeds have lined up a number of players, including Coughlan, to sign if and when they come out of administration.
'They have to show the manager they want to do well and play for this club,' Leeds assistant manager Gus Poyet told the official Leeds site on Coughlan and other new players at Elland Road.
'We want to play every single player only 45 minutes and when you play for 45 you can give it the maximum from the first minute.'
Cocko was deemed surplus to requirements under Owls boss Brian Laws since his arrival, but was a key part of the Wednesday team that battled to stay in the Championship after winning promotion from League One.
The former Plymouth Argyle defender had been tipped for a return to former boss Paul Sturrock, whom he played under at Hillsborough and Argyle, at Swindon Town, but it now looks as though he could make the unpopular move to the Owls' Yorkshire rivals should he impress on trial.
