Good News On The Brunt Front

Wednesday winger Chris Brunt has been linked with a move to the Premiership this summer - but there could be good news for Owls fans thanks to transfer activity elsewhere recently.

Wigan Athletic and Fulham have been the keenest admirers of the Northern Irish international according to rumours in the press - and they're both set to secure big-price moves for Championship players which could spell and end to their interest for Brunt.

Rumours linking Brunt with a move to Craven Cottage went sky high after his former Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez took the reigns after Chris Coleman got the boot near the end of the season.

But after Wednesday issued a 'hands off' warning on Brunt after interest from Fulham, Sanchez has turned his attentions elsewhere by snapping up West Brom's Diomansy Kamara for a whopping £6 million.

Wigan were also linked with a move for the Owls winger in light of Lee McCulloch favouring a move away from the JJB Stadium to Rangers this summer, but are hoping to complete a deal which could take Welsh international Jason Koumas north for a fee of around £5.3 million.

The news can be one of a few positives for Owls fans this pre-season, who hope to see the winger sign a new deal at Hillsborough with his current one set to expire next summer.

What are the chances of getting one more season from him, before leaving on a free next summer?
swfcjambo
dont worry i think he will sign a new contract, and if he were to go on a 'free' we would get sum compensation as he is sil young.
S26OWL
If Brunt do`s not sigh a new contract I think our beloved chairman will sell him in January so he can get more money for him than the compensation that the club will get at the end of the season.
Nightowl
Just cant see him staying, taking fat to long to sign a new contract. Wont belong before he's off.
will it ever happen
