£2m Striker On The Cards

Wednesday have stepped up their bid to bring a new number nine to Hillsborough by tabling a £2m bid for an un-named striker this week.

The Owls have already seen similar bids for Billy Sharp and Kenwyne Jones fail to bring the hitmen to Hillsborough, but Laws is keeping his fingers crossed that the new-boy will be in place for the club's pre-season trip to Holland on Monday.

'A space has been left open on the tour, in case we get the go-ahead to bring in another player. We are very close.' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

Wednesday are awaiting a response from the club in question to hear whether or not their bid has been accepted, and it could be the final transfer action Wednesday fans see this pre-season.

Chelsea forward Scott Sinclair, who impressed while on loan at Championship club Plymouth Argyle last season, has been linked with a move to S6, but Laws has already revealed that he's been looking abroad to strengthen his attacking line.
