Owls Begin Pre-Season

It may not seem too long since the end of last season, or it may seem an age, but Wednesday kick-off their pre-season campaign today at Halifax Town.

Fans travelling to The Shay will be sure to see new players Richard Hinds, Steve Watson, Lee Grant and Rob Burch all in action in West Yorkshire as Owls boss Brian Laws looks to give his players at least 45 minutes each for the opening match of the pre-season campaign.

And the Owls gaffer insists he'll be giving some of his younger members of the new-look squad a run-out after progressing well through the academy ranks.

'I am going to mix it all up and we are going with a 22-man squad,' Laws said. 'I expect them all to play 45 minutes at this stage,' Laws told the official SWFC website.

'It should be a good run out and most managers would agree that games this time of the year are about fitness rather than results. It should also be a good experience for the younger members of the squad.'

Sean McAllister, Mark Beevers and Rocky Lekaj will asll be hoping to be involved in the trip at some point against Town - who now have former Owl Peter Atheron on board as assistant boss.

And with the current wet conditions in West Yorkshire, Wednesday will be looking forward to foreign soil when they embark on their week-long trip to Holland for three further matches next week.
