Folly Linked With Iron

Folly Linked With Iron

Here at Vital Sheffield Wednesday we understand that Owls midfielder Yoann Folly could soon be making his way out of the club with a move to Scunthorpe United.

The Frenchman was frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities under Brian Laws at Hillsborough last term and the Owls boss could see his departure raise some much needed funds to strengthen elsewhere.

And it's thought that Scunthorpe United are considering tabling a bid for the midfielder, with Leeds United hitman Jermaine Beckford also on their wanted list as they look to strengthen following promotion to the Championship.

Folly found himself down the pecking order at S6 under Laws, often being played in defence as cover, with Kenny Lunt, and now Steve Watson the more favourable central midfield positions for Laws.

The Frenchman has also been linked with Swindon Town under boss Paul Sturrock, who brought Folly to Hillsborough during his reign here after impressing during his short stint at Southampton.

Southampton's Rasiak is now being reported as the £2 million man. Laws said we'd be excited by the name but I'm not that impressed. Still, he scored 21 goals last season which is fair enough, but begs the question - why would Southampton sell him?

Firstly personally i think Folly is poor and too defensive what I would call a typical sturrock signing just like Steve Adams and we are not going to progress with players like Folly in the side ! Obviously Laws is moving him out to make room for a new midfielder on the wage bill . Secondly onedeaddj you need to get a grip how can you not be impressed by Rasiak he is just the type we need big, strong, good in the air and a goalscorer with a proven record at that level . 21 goal last seaon despite sitting out the end of the season on the bench is a quality return. Brunty putiing quality crosses in would be food and drink for Rasiak and would easily bag 20 again this season !
