Rasiak Rumours Grow

Southampton hitman Grzegorz Rasiak is the latest name to be linked with a summer move to Hillsborough, it emerged today.

The rumour mill has been in overdrive since Owls boss Brian Laws announced a 2m bid had been tabled for an un-named striker at the end of last week, with a whole host of names linked with the vacant number nine shirt at Hillsborough.

But former Derby and Tottenham Hotspur man Rasiak has emerged as the front runner today according to Radio Sheffield.

The Polish international, who has 30 caps to his name, has been hot property in the Championship with the Rams and the Saints, but St Mary's boss George Burley may want to offload in order to bring in fresh players for the new campaign.

And the 2m laid down on the table by the Owls would see Southamtpon get the money back after paying Spurs 2m for his services in May 2005 after a successful loan spell.

Richard Cresswell, Cameron Jerome, Rowan Vine and Izale McLeod have also been linked with a move to S6.

Laws said we'd be excited by the name but I'm not that impressed. Still, he scored 21 goals last season which is fair enough, but that begs the question - why would Southampton want to sell him without making a profit? Laws hinted that the deal was almost done but I can't see that being the case, especially as other clubs will now be interested.

u bang on about how good u thought maclean was but u wouldn't be impressed by rasiak?? u really aint got a clue about what makes a good striker! and no its not just goals before u pipe up! rasiak would be a million times better than maclean! n if you look at the strikers southampton, its fairly easy to see why they'd let one go for 2mil!!

Why would they want to sell a guy whos just netted them 21 goals theyve just about got the other polish guy and im sure that Rasiak was a big influence in him signing I agree with every one on the cresswell situation but also think thats rubish speculation 1 hes not even worth 600,000 and 2 they just sold healy for 1.5 so how cant any one justify cresswell for 500,000 more

I haven't seen enough of him to be "impressed" by him. If it goes through then I'll give the guy a chance but the jury is still out.

Rasiak would be a great signing for the boys we need a player whos going to work along deon to get those goals cause we have no one going to grab 20 a season in that team at minute and if we get him definatly would be pushing for those play offs

because hull will offer him big wages, which would upset the applecart at s6 with the other players (not good when you consider the interest being shown in our big players). rasiak must be the most consistant goal scorer in this division, and would be our best striker if he came to wednesday, and would with his height would add another dimension to our strikeforce, crucial when you consider our wingers!

would love it to be rasiak, proven goal scorer at this level, cam jerome would be the one for me personally, just because his youth and pace but with brunt and jonhson on the wings rasisk would put them in for fun,at least its better than the cresswell rumour ,if brian pulls this off he should open a few eyes hail king brian!!!! fickle fickle
