Rasiak 'Not For Sale'
Southampton boss George Burley has poured cold water over Grzegorz Rasiak's link with a £2m move to Hillsborough this summer by insisting the Polish striker is not for sale.
Media reports yesterday (yeah, yeah, including Vital Sheffield Wednesday) were reporting that the former Derby and Tottenham Hotspur hitman was the subject of a £2m raid by Owls boss Brian Laws.
But it now looks as though the Polish international, who was top scorer at St Mary's, will be staying put for the time being at least as Burley looks to cling on to his star men.
'They (Wednesday) haven't made any bid because I've told Brian Laws certainly now I'm not looking to sell him,' Burley told The Southern Daily Echo.
'You could say we've lost two of our best players and that has eased our financial worries and it had to be done but we don't want to lose any more. You always get speculation but I've told Grzegorz I don't want to sell him.
'We've lost Leon Best in the summer and have still got a healthy competition for places but we need everybody we can.
'We've had to sell two of our best players from last season in Gareth Bale and Chris Baird and we've lost Leon Best and those three players are big misses to our squad and we can't afford to weaken the squad any further'.
So it looks as though either Laws will be turning his attention elsewhere, with players such as Darius Vassell, Francis Jeffers and Cameron Jerome all linked with a move to S6, or the Owls are still in discussions with their mystery man.
