Rasiak 'Not For Sale'

Southampton boss George Burley has poured cold water over Grzegorz Rasiak's link with a 2m move to Hillsborough this summer by insisting the Polish striker is not for sale.

Media reports yesterday (yeah, yeah, including Vital Sheffield Wednesday) were reporting that the former Derby and Tottenham Hotspur hitman was the subject of a 2m raid by Owls boss Brian Laws.

But it now looks as though the Polish international, who was top scorer at St Mary's, will be staying put for the time being at least as Burley looks to cling on to his star men.

'They (Wednesday) haven't made any bid because I've told Brian Laws certainly now I'm not looking to sell him,' Burley told The Southern Daily Echo.

'You could say we've lost two of our best players and that has eased our financial worries and it had to be done but we don't want to lose any more. You always get speculation but I've told Grzegorz I don't want to sell him.

'We've lost Leon Best in the summer and have still got a healthy competition for places but we need everybody we can.

'We've had to sell two of our best players from last season in Gareth Bale and Chris Baird and we've lost Leon Best and those three players are big misses to our squad and we can't afford to weaken the squad any further'.

So it looks as though either Laws will be turning his attention elsewhere, with players such as Darius Vassell, Francis Jeffers and Cameron Jerome all linked with a move to S6, or the Owls are still in discussions with their mystery man.

every player is for sale - chelsea have proved that on numerous occasions.

Bougherra wasn't for sale until we got a good price for him.. you're right there.

But we can't afford to go any higher than 2m so it's game over

Yet another False dawn, and lies fromthe club, just to keep us all sweet. PULL YOUR FINGERS OUT WEDNESDAY. YOU HAVE SOME OF THE MOST LOYAL FANS IN THE WORLD, YOU STILL AVERAGE 25,000 EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE SERVED UP RUBBISH FOR LAST 10 YEARS. STOP TREATING THE FANS LIKE IDIOTS. STOP THE LIES, STOP THE DECEIT, JUST TELL US THE MONEY HAS ALL GONE, AND WE WILL HAVE A SQUAD WITH NO NUMBER 9, AND WE WILL HAVE TO ACCEPT HIT, BUT BUILDING OUR HOPES UP AND THEN CRUSHING THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN IS DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOR

vassell, jeffers, jerome who else are we going to be linked with then sadly let down cum on wednesday lets have some concrete proof that you have higher expectations as you said at the end of the season and not just mid table aims, as it is looking at the moment
jimbob owl
you've got that feeling that where going to start the season without a striker that they promissed us!
will it ever happen
I wish the gossip-mongers would stop printing all the rubbish rumours, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!!!!!! Just tell me when or should I say "IF" that number 9 slot is filled. Maybe just maybe we will see a replacement before the start of the season but I feel that I won't be excited by it......... Oh well, I'm still stupid enough to follow....

Boys i think we all got a touch on with the prospect of Rasiak coming to hillsbrough I think it will all be sorted out by the end of next week at the latest I still have a feeling that we will be impressed hes not spent a penny yet and he has indicated somebody from abroad a premiership payer like vassell up for sale wouldnt be a bad call however lets have faith cause if hes going to push for promotion with out spending any money I think even he knows hes he cant seriously push for promotion with strikers that are do well if they get in double figures
fozzyp
a touch on?? i spilled me beans!!! lol
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
As I said yesterday, they'd be mad to sell Rasiak at no profit. It disappoints me that they're not even trying to sign Fowler, scared off by the competition offered by the mighty Cardiff and Leicester. He'd put 2,000+ on the gates every match if he played regularly.

No ambitions, no chance of promotion to the premiership, that SWFC for you. Stop pulling our chains Wednesday and sign a quality striker soon and I do not mean Cresswell.

I think the problem here is not information coming from the club, but rumours coming from other websites and, yes, even this one. We're all so desperate to know who the "mystery striker" is that we're playing one heck of a guessing game and, when we're wrong, we're all upset.

Are you people actually blaming the club for a rumour made up by the press not being true. seriously? someone actually suggested this was an example of 'more lies from the club' when the club hasn't actually said anything. more thought required

Why would RASIAK leave Southampton for us really . Looking at the two squads Southamotin have a better chance of promotion than us and why would he want to move to Yorkshire when he lives down South . We are getting desperate know for a new striker and to be honest I feel this is anothet target that weve missed out on so therefore we will have to turn our attentions to the man 3rd on the list. Dont get me wrong RASIAK would be a top signing as 21 goals last season shows all his quality. But lets not get too down we still have Tudgay and Burton who can notch know and and again as well as the beast (Leon Clarke ) who is reportedly to have shed a few stone ! And we still have good young talent such as BRUNT WHELAN and SIMEK all who could play in the Prem !
