Owls Draw Again In Holland

The final Owls Dutch tour match almost went un-noticed due to the takeover shenanigans at S6.. the unbeaten run continues, but not without its problems.

Wednesday completed the third match in Holland after Chris Brunt had seen another controversial red card, a late Marcus Tudgay goal producing a 1-1 result against FC Groningen.

Deon Burton had been the one to leave the field in baffling circumstances against Heerenveen: against Groningen, Brunt claimed to have timed his tackle and connected with the ball, but the referee was adamant and sent him to the sidelines.

In the previous match, Heerenveen had been sympathetic to the Owls plight and kept the game ten a side so that meaningful pre-season match practice could be gained - the Groningen management was less understanding and shortly after the Owls were reduced to ten men, the Dutch Eredivisie side pressed home their numerical advantage to take the lead.

The first half had seen good chances for Clarke and Brunt, a good save from Grant denying the home side a goal in an excellent 90 minute display from the ex-Derby stopper. Wade Small once again put in the hard yards and continued his form of late, and Peter Gilbert rode out an injury to finish well.

However, the Owls had to wait until the closing moments of the game for Tudgay to score following a corner, to the delight of the travelling faithful.

But boss Brian Laws will have an anxious wait for two sets of referee's reports and the judgements on the red cards.. let's hope they don't spoil what is turning out to be a fairly successful early season for Wednesday.

And, on a personal note, after the politics, the arguments, the misunderstandings and misrepresentations of the past few days, this reporter in particular is finding it refreshing to actually write about football for a change.

If someone reports on something to someone else, then they are, by definition, a reporter. This is not difficult, Tonytime. Take it out on someone else.
Duggo
ok, duggo, i will consider myself, well and truly wrist slapped, but wait whats this encyclopedia definition i see......Reporters gather their information in a variety of ways, including tips, press releases, and witnessing events. They perform research through interviews, public records, and other sources. The information-gathering part of the job is sometimes called "reporting" as distinct from the production part of the job, such as writing articles. Reporters generally split their time between working in a newsroom and going out to witness events or interview people. Most reporters working for major news media outlets are assigned an area to focus on, called a beat or patch. They are encouraged to cultivate sources to improve their information gathering. mmm thats incredible from New Zealand

Dug go dig, you are no fun, boring.

Wednesday might have conducted some other business while in Holland. Here's the latest rumour. "The Daily Star on Sunday is reporting that record Dutch international goal-scorer Patrick Kluivert may be moving to Sheffield Wednesday now that he has been released by Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven. This would be a pretty big coup for Brian Law’s side, who are beginning to look like potential promotion candidates following some lean years."

MORE ON KLUIVERT COMING TO WEDNESDAY. His Wikipedia profile has already been changed to say current club: Sheff Wed. Wiki sometimes gets ahead of the news, a recent example being the death of wrestler Chris Benoit's wife. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Kluivert

MORE ON KLUIVERT: The Sheffield Star reports - "Laws is also looking at free agents and it is understood moves are afoot to bring a player described by a source close to the club as a "big name" on trial as soon as possible."

Didnt We Expect It ? Pre Season wouldnt be right unless some stumbling block got in the way of our preperations ! What is it with the Dutch not liking the English !
