Kluivert Rejects Owls

Rumours of a move for former Barcelona and Ajax striker Patrick Kluivert have been ended today with the former Dutch international rejecting a move to Hillsborough.

Owls boss Brian Laws revealed that he'd offered a trial to the 31-year-old earlier in the week after discussing the deal with his agent, and was hopeful to see the Dutchman arrive for a trial.

But all hope now seems to have been ended after the striker revealed that although he was flattered by the interest from the Owls, he won't be taking up the offer of a trial to play in the Championship next term.

'I am flattered with the interest,' he told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

'However a move to Sheffield Wednesday is not in my future plans.'

Kluivert was released from his contract with PSV Eindhoven after a less than successful spell back in his home land after moving home from Valencia, and the player's agent had offered him to a number of clubs including Wigan for a trial which was rejected.

And it now seems that Wednesday boss Brian Laws can now turn his attentions elsewhere at filling the vacant number nine shirt as the new season draws ever closer.

Not suprised but didnt really think e wud be that gud a signing anyway cud do wi someone a couple of years younger ! Sheffield Star reports we av frsh chance of getting RASIAK he wud be much better ! Why not try for Tevez just to p**s blades off, lol

kluivert or unsworth, dont want them!!
will it ever happen
nah im jus bein sarcastic, although we do need a centre back n a striker, and sharpish season starts soon
smiggyswfc
I agree smiggy but weve signed Hinds as a centre back but if you were at chesterfield last night you would see e aint that much cop ! Hopefully Southampton will take the money and sell Rasiak
Updaowls
Why not bid for freddy adu? he leaving real salt lake and benfica only bid $2m dollar. whats that 1m english? also jermaine easter would cost less than 1m. Honeslty looks like we wont sign anyone though as we dream of impossible signings like kluivert.
Bigash
Kluivert, yeh right, as if there was ever a chance. Hindes/Coughlan, another?/McClean, Lunt/Folley. Suppose we ought to reserve judgement as at least he seems to have shipped Graham out.....maybe. At the end of the day, its a question of money, and the reality is we aint got any. Lets just hope that the players coming through can shift up quickly, because they willbe the cheapest option, and like it or not, thats the way they will go. We will have a wafer thin 1st team squad, patched up with youngsters and journeymen. I would love to be proven wrong, and hopefully will be. Rasiak would be a major boost. I live in hope.
