Owls Progress With Rasiak/Henderson

Wednesday look to have moved a step closer to filling the vacant number nine shirt at Hillsborough after opening talks with Southampton and Watford over possible striker deals.

The Owls have been linked with Saints hitman Grzegorz Rasiak for a number of weeks and are currently in discussions with their Championship rivals, while Watford hitman Darius Henderson is also set to speak with boss Brian Laws over a move to S6.

We are hoping to make some kind of breakthrough in the next few days,' Laws told the Yorkshire Post.

'Until we get permission to talk to the player, there is no other issue to be discussed.

'Southampton have been in touch. It's a positive note, they are not telling us to go away,' Laws continued.

'I know it has been a long drawn-out process, but the fact that it got out in the open has made it more difficult because everyone is impatient.'

Southampton boss George Burley has already revealed his desire to keep the Polish international striker at St Mary's next season but the Saints board could accept a bid for Rasiak.

And the Owls also have Watford striker Darius Henderson on their radar after it was revealed the striker would enter in to talks with Wednesday and Preston North End about a switch this week.

Sad to say, I have only made a handful of comments and all appear negative. I can only apologies. However, given the benefit of all probability who looks most likely. Henderson wants away, and obviously Watford are supporting it. Rasiak just came back off his hols, his manager says he wants him to stay, and to cap it all, our wages "within budget" wouldnt come within a country mile of what he was on at Spurs then laterly Saints. And he's obviously worth more than the 2m saints paid for him purely because of his goals in the Championship. So we are probably more likely to plump for Henderson (Who?) although competition from PNE would prove too strong, remember they have the Nugent money. So atually I recon we would end up with neither, or god forbid, pay over the odds for Henderson is blind panic.

If i had the choice I would have Rasiak but are we going to get either, doubtful! Rasiak knows where the goal is he would be very useful, Henderson is a mystery, would he be good? At least it's not Creswell!!

Stop it, when I first visited this site Creswell's name was being bandied about, I went into a cold sweat. If it was Creswell or nobody I would go for the latter. Rasiak or Henderson. I reckon niether. However, the season ticket and car park money would only have only paid for a nice holiday somewhere without rain. And Im sure come mid December the kids will thank me for getting the tickets again. To be honest, we would all watch 11 dogs run around in blue and white shirts.

Rasiak has scored 5 and set up 5 already in pre season he has set him self personal targets at southampton and is ready for promotion with them he has another polish counterpart there will be on higher wages and hes already comfortable in there set up why would he leave all that to come to a team of the same chance of promotion if not worse seems like hed be taking a step backwards coming to our beloved club

Enterely agree. Unless, maybe there is a big Polish community in Sheffield and his grandmother lives in it and some long lost uncle. Or maybe he's been internet dating and she doesnt fancy the South Coast. Not a cat in hells chance unfortunately. Although I dont mind egg on my face over this one.

s66owl Where did the notion that he would have both if he could come from. Reality check required. No chance on Rasiak for several reasons previously mentioned. Just maybe, I could conceed that he is 'going' for Henderson (who?) But they dont have the money for either. Sad to say if it came down to PNE or our beloved team, we would miss out. Sorry to dissapoint but only being a realist.

Rasiak is the man we need he would gwt is in the position we want. I think he would score 20 at least ! The good news is at least Southampton have not rejected the offer so they someone at the club must be looking to sell him. But if the bid is accepted I think we might struggle t attract Rasiak anyway maybe because of money but also the fact that he has a better chance of promotion with Southampton. As for Henderson he is a different type of striker because he wouldnt score as many goals but he is still better than what we have ! Wouldnt cost as much which could give us oppurtunity to get in another player !

Thanks for that reality check fozzyp, Iv been trying all day to try and get that point across, knowbody wants to here it though. Seems cloud cuckoo land is far more appealing to most of the owls. Bless em anyway, their hearts are certainly in the right place, and I cant fault that. Guess we all want the same. Alas, the promised land is just a distant dream.

I just hope im wrong Sothampton havnt reject the bid Correct They also havnt accepted it Then Rasiak has to be slightly intrested in comming to wednesday Then we ave to offer him an attractive package to lure him away Plus its now out in the open do you not think other teams wont be sniffing around I really hope we land him lads but were not in a financial state to even compete with the likes of coventry Leicester and norwich who are very very average

I think Henderson would be a good signing, strong centre forward, he scored loads for watford in their promotion year and useful in the air, not a house filler but he could score a few next year
