Owls Progress With Rasiak/Henderson
Wednesday look to have moved a step closer to filling the vacant number nine shirt at Hillsborough after opening talks with Southampton and Watford over possible striker deals.
The Owls have been linked with Saints hitman Grzegorz Rasiak for a number of weeks and are currently in discussions with their Championship rivals, while Watford hitman Darius Henderson is also set to speak with boss Brian Laws over a move to S6.
We are hoping to make some kind of breakthrough in the next few days,' Laws told the Yorkshire Post.
'Until we get permission to talk to the player, there is no other issue to be discussed.
'Southampton have been in touch. It's a positive note, they are not telling us to go away,' Laws continued.
'I know it has been a long drawn-out process, but the fact that it got out in the open has made it more difficult because everyone is impatient.'
Southampton boss George Burley has already revealed his desire to keep the Polish international striker at St Mary's next season but the Saints board could accept a bid for Rasiak.
And the Owls also have Watford striker Darius Henderson on their radar after it was revealed the striker would enter in to talks with Wednesday and Preston North End about a switch this week.
