Rasiak Chase Ends

Wednesday have pulled out of the chance to sign Southampton's Polish international striker Grzegorz Rasiak after the Saints asked for 'further financial demands'.

The former Derby and Spurs hitman was thought to be top of Laws' wish list to fill the vacant number nine jersey and it was thought the Owls lodged a £2m bid for the striker.

But any deal has collapsed after Wednesday received contact from the Saints insisting more money must be ploughed in to the deal to secure his services.

'I have seen the contents of the letter from Southampton and they accepted a substantial offer but they have now changed their demands. It has been very frustrating because they have changed the goalposts.' Laws told the official SWFC website.

Rasiak would have been a fien capture for the Owls having proven himself at Championship level on more the one occassion - netting 19 goals for George Burley's men last season before the end of January.

And the Saints boss was keen to hold on to his man: 'There is no doubt there has been interest and I have spoken to Greg and told him he is very much in my plans.'

Who will this big name sticker be? At this rate, it will be Richard Cresswell. Never thought "big name" literally meant that!! Looks like the Hobson rumours are resurfacing....

If laws really thinks he isnt worth what they were demanding then fair enough but if this turns out to be all about the lack of money to finance the deal then it really is a shambles. AS we have surely saved around £500,000 a year from macleans wages plus something similar if both brunt and whelen leave add that to the bougherra money and the cash we would get for brunty/whelen we surely must have around £5 million burning a hole in allens pockets.

"Further financial demands" Your not telling me that Wednesday didnt know that they had to pay up front and not when they were in the premiership. Bloody hell, thats not on Saints. Maybe they could loan him us for a season and still pay his wages, that would be better. Big City, 2 clubs. Unfortunately only one with any ambition, desire and recources to get there. How bloody depressing

What a p**ck Allen is ! Why not just push the boat out that little bit more in to get who we want . He is all talk when it comes to the crunch and actually paying the money he aint interested at all. He doesnt seem to realise that to actually get to the premiership you have to buy quality but he expects it to happen with the squad we have got because he knows nowt about football.

Allen says he won't put any more money in, check out the interview with Kaven Walker on the wednesday website, to me it seems allen is trying to choke the club to try and force our share holders to come forward and sell up, I must say I think its time for the club to step up, allen wants out, I wish and I mean no disrespect to our shareholders that for the good of the club we need to getthe shares in and sell the club, the press conference held by allen was probably the most unproffessional and embarrassing thing I have ever seen as a wednesday fan, fair dues to allen he has steadied the ship - but I do feel he will happily let the club sink again if he doesnt manage to sell up, there was the question of him investing heavily into the squad should he have 51% of the share holding and I personally don't care as long as the club ends up back in the premier league

Did Allen & Law's really think we would get him for £2m with no add on's ?. What a pair of plonkers, he bagged 19 goals before the end of January ffs. What ever happened to speculate to accumulate ?. Does Allen think they are all thick down at Southampton ? or is it just me who thought we where never going to get him for that price ?. Going on a goals ratio Brunt will be on his way out for about £1.3m if he thinks Rasiak is only worth £2m. At least Dick Turpin used to wear a mask. 20/1 to go down, looks like money for old rope
