Laws Looking Abroad

Wednesday boss Brian Laws will be missing tonight's friendly with Oldham Athletic - to abroad and scout the Owls' possible new number nine.

Laws is keen to bring a new striker in to the club to complete his jigsaw ahead of the new campaign, and he revealed that he will be travelling to Europe with chief executive Kaven Walker to put his watchful eye over a potential striker.

Laws told the Sheffield Star: 'We're going to look at a player we've been interested in for a while, and this is an opportunity to see him in a high-quality game.'

And Laws has denied to comment on his target and destination, but revealed that the striker in question will be featuring in a Champions League qualifying match this week.

Laws has already missed out on a number of strikers including Billy Sharp, Grzegorz Rasiak, Kenwyne Jones, Darius Henderson and a trial for Patrick Kluivert, and is keen to get his man ahead of the final friendly of the pre-season against Birmingham City this weekend.

Assistant boss Russ Wilcox and Sean McAuley will be in charge of the Owls in the friendly clash with Oldham this evening.

s66owl. I thought I was the negative one, although you probably have a valid point. By all acounts it was dire at Vale Park. So it might be someone playing in a Champions League qualifier? Cant be anyone in Scotland, maybe an Irish side, could be anywhere. Where's he flying too? need more info to get interested.

Daniel Braaten of Rosenborg?? or Ciprian Marica of Shakhtar? Whichever club he plays for lets hope they dont qualify for the champions league and enjoy a soggy pitch

I think you guys need to look at the subs bench or even the reserve team, I'm sure a young 38yr old playing semi pro for an armenian side might be a more likely arrival, I try to be optimistic but unfortunately I listened to the radio interview with kaven walker and I really am not that inspired by his words

There's looking abroad Brian and there's.......!
