Oliech Set For Owls

Owls boss Brian Laws is set to run the rule over out-of-favour Nantes striker Dennis Oliech by offering him a one-week trial according to his agent.

Laws is desperate to add a new striker to his ranks ahead of the new season and is known to be scouring Europe for new talent to bolster his attacking options in time for the opening day clash at Ipswich.

And the player's agent, Jean-Christophe Thouvenel, has revealed to Setanta.com that his player will be swapping France for South Yorkshire before the end of the week to undergo a trial with the Owls at Middlewood Road.

'Dennis Oliech will start a trial period with Sheffield Wednesday next Thursday or Friday,' Thouvenel told setanta.com.

'I am trying to obtain him a Visa and I plan to send him there pretty soon.'

But the strikers stats don't make for impressive reading for Wednesday fans, despite his international honours with Kenya, after the hitman scored just four goals in a one-and-a-half year stint with French club Nantes, who were relegated last season.

what about me? I'm crap too.

And to add to this, we've just lost 2-0 to Oldham. Anyone notice a link between Brunt going and us being *****. Morale low, by any chance? It's lower now. I'm genuinely embarrassed to support Wednesday.

we are gonna struggle boys, I love my club but whats happened at the top has filtered down, I wouldnt be surprised if laws walked soon, watch this space

Can't say I'm impressed with this news!

He's would be a great addition to the owls squad, seen a few goals of his and looks like a carbon copy of Kenwyne Jones. Tall, quick and can score too. He played 20 odd games for nantes and scored 4, but at prevous clubs he has been top scorer twice. this outa make you intrested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKalY-XFOjs . Owls fans have can start too believe again!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched that clip on youtube, looks ok, might need more convincing though. What really shocked me with that clip was Charlie from Eastenders giving an interview in french at the end
Norman
Maybe not as bad as first thought. Only two goals in 23 games last season is still a concern. Okay, Nantes went down but he's not likely to be a 20 goal a season man. Glad we've got him on trial and not just bought him. We do need signings at the moment though, just to boast morale around the club.

At this rate we'll be in for Gordon Watson again.

gordon watson well get more than 2 a season
fozzyp
what about nigel jemson, or maybe prolific goal machine giles de bilde
Holl
Come on, that You Tube clip is hardly impressive - the defender of the other team puts the assist on a plate! French top league is same level as English Championship, ie not very good, so if he can't succeed in that crappy division it doesn't look like he will here.
onedeaddj
plus if thats the only footage of him doing well he must be baba i remember watching a clip on kliuvert on you tube it was longer htan eastenders onibus
fozzyp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDfJpoQX0l8&NR=1 not bad

There seems to be alot more on dennis oliech at dailymotion.com http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/oliech/video/x2008r_oliech-pour-hichem-fcna_sport He will be a rough diamond. i do think he'l impress in trials too. Only problem will be obtaining a work permit. Cus i read he fallen out with national team boss.
Bigash
could he be the new ekoku or sibon?? i.e. big, strong, hardworking but technically crap? Might be a good target man to play alongside deon or tudgay
Norman
since when was sibon hars working??? he was the most casual player iv ever seen!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
Sibon was never hard working. Anyone heard whether Oliech has turned up? Nothing official seems to have been said. Wonder if he could play against Birmingham?
Disgruntled Owl
Ive just heard Oliech is on trial at Wolves, dont know if thats aswell as the owls?
Bigash
Don't think he ever came here. Probably just the agent trying to get him in somewhere.
