Owls Linked With Riordan

Celtic striker Derek Riordan has been linked with a move to Hillsborough as Owls boss Brian Laws looks to fill his vacant number nine shirt ahead of the new season.

Laws has tried and failed with a number of options to bolster his attack ahead of the new season with bids for Billy Sharp, Kenwyne Jones, Grzegorz Rasiak and even an offer to take former Ajax and Dutch international Patrick Kluivert on trial.

And the Owls supremo could now focus his attentions on bringing the former Hibernian striker to Hillsborough this week after falling out of favour with Celtic boss Gordan Strachan since his move to Glasgow.

Laws is thought to have around £2 million to play with to bring a new striker to Hillsborough, and with Riordan making just six starts in the SPL for Strachan's men, Celtic could well be set to listen to offers for their hitman.

And despite only featuring a handful of times for the champions since his move in 2006, Riordan's goalscoring record is still impressive with seven goals in ten competitive starts.

Mmmm not sure about this one either!
will it ever happen
Can never tell with players from Scotland. Good record but who knows what he'd be like down here.
Disgruntled Owl
nope not for me
Holl
Flash back...... Simon donnelly and Phil o donnell, lets not forget the quality of the scottish league, technically known as poor
mansfieldowl
forgot bout di canio n blinker!!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
If he'd played 10 games and scored 7 goals then no manager would let such a striker go. I'm assuming he's only been allowed to play against poor quality opposition.
Disgruntled Owl
has anyone read the comments on vital celtic? they seem quite fond of him. i may well be forced to eat my words from my previous comment
mansfieldowl
come on laws get this lad signed at one point was a very good prospect up there
s66owl
Still puzzled as to why he's scored 7 in 10 but hasn't played more??
Disgruntled Owl
Had a falling out with Strachan I think.
Skeggy Owl
there all moaning about strachan on vital celtic saying riodan should play more and that 400k is patthetic n hes worth alot more. looks good then hopefully itll happen
smiggyswfc
He was top scorer for Hibs three years in a row and generally scores just under one in every two games. Out of favour because of a racist incident by the sounds of things. Called a Hearts player a 'F**king refugee'. I've now gone from thinking he wouldn't be good enough to thinking he's too good for us. Where did the 400k figure come from?
Disgruntled Owl
He's a good player but Strachan likes his players to be whiter than white off the field. He is currently involved in a court case, do a quick Google News search and it will all be there...an it seems you're not going to pay what has been asked, anyway...ah well click here for article
CowesBhoy
on vital celtic there all saying its 400k
smiggyswfc
They've asked for £1million, which is too risky i think for someone like Riordan
johnnywalker69
I'd rather have him than Jeffers. So he's got caught saying stuff on the pitch. I bet the majority of players say worse all the time.
Disgruntled Owl
Is there not such a thing as compromise? 700k wouldn't be too bad.
Disgruntled Owl
Riordan was found not guilty in his court case today, you'll be happy to know :D
