Jeffers In Owls' Frame

Blackburn Rovers striker Francis Jeffers is the latest name linked with a move to Hillsborough after Owls boss Brian Laws revealed he was discussing a move with a Premiership striker.

Celtic striker Derek Riordan has also been in the frame for the Owls' number nine shirt, but with Laws revealing his hopes for a striker from the Premiership, all eyes are on the former Everton and Arsenal 'fox in the box'.

Jeffers could have been lining up against Wednesday on Saturday in the colours of Ipswich Town, but Jim Magilton was forced to pull out of a deal for their loan star due to wage demands.

And with Wednesday having similar problems at bringing a new striker to the club, the wage demands of the Everton youth product could also prove a problem for Brian Laws as he looks to add a new attacking option before the weekend.

why would you bother, hes done nothing for years, he should be paying clubs to play, to get his career back on track, sign him on loan its a write off, sign him maybe it could work.
Eddie01

Smurf
Can't say I'd be pleased to see him. He really hasn't done anything for soooo long. Need someone with a better goalscoring pedigree.

not sure about this one either!
will it ever happen
i reckon hes worth the gamble remember few years back hen he was in the england fold

i once scored a teriffic overhead kick on the park can i have a go please? or am i over qualified for the position?
mansfieldowl
Yeah please take him, would do a good job at Championship level depending on fitness though
roverjoy
His nickname was changed to "pox in the box" many years ago - case closed. Play Small or Johnson up front and keep the money until something else turns up. It went from Fowler and Kluivert to Horsfield and Jeffers. Laws should just admit defeat, this debacle has dragged on too long.
onedeaddj
is it true that the mythalogical scoring machine that is david graham has left?
mansfieldowl
Yes Graham has left, contract cancelled by mutual consent
Smurf
Maybe wait til January, Laws should put aside the £2m for the right striker, or spend 500k on Riordan and the rest on another defender or mid. Not convinced with Jeffers, he's had numerous chances to redeem himself and not produced the goods

i know its random but mitre have ade them new balls, designed for each team and ours is white with blue and a red trimming(i think)... why on earth have red on a sheffield wednesday ball
smiggyswfc
doesnt matter it hasnt, jus the picture of the one lee grants got on the proper site is chesterfields my bad ours is blue n black n white :)

RIORDAN GOOD SIGNING, JEFFERS CUD BE WORSE IS BETTER THAN HORSFIELD OR DICKOV.
OWL25
Bit of a risk. Could be good but injury prone. We don't need him sat on the sidelines. I like the idea of getting him on the cheap and picking up another defender. Especially now they've got Graham wages to play with.
Disgruntled Owl
Can they not get riordan or jeffers on season loan, and spend the 2mill on securing whelan and brunt?
owl1
Blackburn turned down a loan move for Jeffers and it sounds like Celtic want rid of Riordan.
Disgruntled Owl
jeffers is rubbish, riordan - league one maybe, whatabout malcolm christie, thomas radzinski, oh yes I remembered wages! wednesday can't afford to pay, maclean would have been a better option to spend the alleged £2m on, though I believe there isn't £2m to spend and that any monies recieved are used to pay back allen, and pay up contracts ( David Graham) I just saw some footage of that oliech we have got on trial on youtube - he looks quite handy but again just had a shocker of a season, so who knows, its lookin bad boys

Thank you Mr Optimism.

Sheffield Star confirm we're in talks with Jeffers. He scored 4 in 9 for Ipswich last season. They really wanted him. If we get him, that's a guarenteed goal against Ipswich on Saturday.
