Toffees' Brunt Link Resurfaces

Toffees' Brunt Link Resurfaces

Chris Brunt's Wednesday future has been plunged further in to doubt this week with media reports linking the Northern Irish international with a £3m move to Everton.

Brunt, who will miss the Owls next three games through suspension, has already seen contract negotiations collapse at Hillsborough and could be left to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the current campaign.

But Wednesday may want to cash in on their prize asset as they look to find a replacement for their star man, with a £3m offer from David Moyes seemingly too good to turn down.

Fulham, Manchester City and West Ham have also shown previous interest in the former Middlesbrough youngster but all three look to have strengthened accordingly for the new season.

And that could pave the way for the Goodison Park club to steam in and sign the Belfast-born winger before the current transfer window closes at the end of the month.

3million, i'd snap Evertons hands off for that! Take the money and run Brian Laws!!

Depends. Where will this money go? Saturday proved we desperately need investment in the team.
13/08/2007 12:35:00
True, if the 3million goes back into team building then take it, but we were also told the 3million from the sales of Bougherra & Talbot would go back into team building! But we need to get ship of these prima donnas (Brunt & Whelan) who think cos they had 1 half decent season that they've made it! They clearly havent got their minds fixed on the job
13/08/2007 12:40:00
I say take it BL, Brunts attitude stinks. Get some money while we can!
13/08/2007 12:50:00
Nick, you say he will go on a free and the end of the season, but as his under 24 dont we get combo?!
13/08/2007 12:51:00
Yeah, we'll probably get around 1.5million combo at end of season, although if he has a stinker of a season we may get considerably less than that!
13/08/2007 12:56:00
So what if part of the Bougherra + Talbot 3m has gone into paying off the debt. If they put 1m towards debt it'd be well spent. As the less debt wer in should make the club more attractive to potential buyers. If 1m of Brunt money also goes into debt, i'd be happy still. As an ideal replacement would be Gary Teale and he would cost approx 600k. Then i'd go for stefanovic and maybe mills. What has happend with Tommy Spurr? all the progress of last season only to used second fiddle to the crapness of Peter Gilbert.
13/08/2007 13:01:00
Yeah i dont mind some money going into reducing the debt at all Bigash, but when the board tell us that the money is gonna go back into team building, then isnt... thats the problem! Why dont the board just tell us the truth!
13/08/2007 13:27:00
Who the ***** is Gary Teale?
13/08/2007 13:32:00
Apparently, anything more than 2m goes straight to the bank, so 1m would go there anyway. I think the 2m we had for a striker shows that the bigger concern is wages. I'd take 3m for Brunt, especially as this looks like it'll be a tough season, with hard work required throughout. However, Brunt is probably still on a league 1 wage. If he goes, we can spend all we want but we won't be able to pay the wages. This is why I can't see us getting a new centre back in, however much we need one. Wages, folks, that's the problem here.
