Laws Looking At Duo

Laws Looking At Duo

Wednesday boss Brian Laws could move swiftly to replace Chris Brunt at S6, and bring in not one, but two players before the transfer deadline at the end of the month.

The Owls are expected to get £3m from the Brunt deal should the player agree terms with the Baggies, and although Owls chief executive Kaven Walker has said Laws won't be getting the whole £3m to spend, he'll be getting a wad to strengthen his squad.

'We're currently in negotiations with a club in terms of a player me and Brian went to look at in Europe two weeks ago,' Walker told BBC Radio Sheffield.

'There's other players Brian is looking at in the Premier League, it's quite possible another two players will come in before the end of August.'

Owls fans may well be worried that they could be losing not one, but two of their star men with Glenn Whelan also rumoured to be a target of Reading in recent weeks.

Former Derby man Seth Johnson has been linked as a replacement in the centre of midfield while Dennis Oliech could be the man Laws is currently in discussions with over a move to South Yorkshire from France.

I saw Unsworth went on a free to Burnley. He would have been good cover at either left or center back - better than Bullen or Gilbert anyway - plus he's played with Watson before - plus he got the pigs relegated! Why weren't we in for him?

BTW - the mighty Preston North End have beaten us to the loan signing of Newcastle wonderkid Andy Carroll - http://www.lep.co.uk/sport?articleid=3108825 - another embarrassment and more proof that we are a small-minded club run by incompetent morons with no ambition.

onedeaddj are you really suggesting that the club is small minded (i assume you mean narrow minded) and run by incompetent morons with no ambition because PNE have signed a player on loan that we were once linked with through the tabloids (never comfirmed by the club) before we signed Jeffers? have you been to see him play? has every manager in the championship bar simpson has missed a trick? i open minded to being convinced of his prowess should he fire PNE to promotion... but i won't hold my breath!

They call Carroll "the new Duncan Ferguson" - he is 6 foot 4 and widely recognized as a star of the future. Watch him score a *****load for PNE as the hapless and unfit Jeffers fails to score in the entire month of August and into September.
