Wednesday winger Chris Brunt has ended speculation over his future by agreeing a £3m switch to Championship rivals West Bromich Albion today.
The Northern Irish international has been heavily linked with a move away from S6 after the superb season he enjoyed last term, and the collapse of recent contract talks have alerted a number of clubs.
Everton were rumoured to be set to make Brunt's Premiership dream a reality with a £3m swoop for the midfielder but Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has moved fast to replace Diomansy Kamara and Jason Koumas who both left the club over the summer.
Mowbray told the official WBA website: 'Chris is a player whose ambitions match our own.
'He wants to play at the top level and we're delighted he's chosen our club as a vehicle to hopefully take him there. Chris has undoubted, proven quality at this level and brings a cultured left foot to the squad.
'He will hopefully supply plenty of ammunition for our strikers and chip in with a few goals himself.
'He's a welcome addition to the squad and will add competition for places in ann area where we feel we already have a lot of quality.'
Former Owls boss Chris Turner brought the Northern Irishman to Hillsborough from the Middlesbrough youth set-up but the winger far from impressed the Owls faithful with Jekyll and Hyde form in the blue and white stripes.
But he blossomed last season following Brian Laws' appointment at Hillsborough, and attracted the interest of a number of clubs including Manchester City, West Ham and Everton.
Owls boss Laws is now set to sit down and look for a replacemennt for Brunt, with only Burton O'Brien the only other left-sided player at the club.
