Laws Waits On Trio

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is hopeful of completing a triple swoop to bolster his squad with a defender, midfielder and striker all in discussions ahead of the transfer deadline.

Laws has revealed he's made a bid for a mystery striker, a midfielder, and has agreed a fee and terms with Reading defender Sam Sodje as he looks to bolster his squad and improve on the opening two defeats of the season which leave the Owls propping up the rest of the league.

'I have made an offer for a striker and I'm now waiting to hear back from his club to see if we've been successful,' he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

'One thing is for sure - I think it will happen pretty quickly.

'We still have an offer on the table for a foreign midfielder but since the bid, he has scored a bucketload of goals and become a full international.'

The striker in question is thought to be out of favour Middlesbrough forward Jason Euell who has been told he can leave the Riverside after failing to feature in Gareth Southgate's plans in the Premiership this term.

But Owls fans will be keen to hear who the midfielder is, and whether or not a deal will be completed for Reading defender Sam Sodje ahead of the Owls clash with Charlton this Saturday.

'We've agreed a fee with Reading and agreed terms with the player but for some reason there's a hold-up,' Laws continued.

'I have an idea what it is but I'm not prepared to go into it.'

I know the feeling. So many possible signings. Wonder how many will bear fruit. Would be nice to see a few new faces come in before end of next week. Get a bit of excitement going at the club.
Disgruntled Owl

Rumour around that the striker is Goran Ljubojevic from Genk in Belgium. Croatian that was with Zagreb. Been in Belgium for a year and doing a pretty good job. Scoring record of about 1 in 3 Anyone else heard this one ?
DB2002
ooh not heard that one DB2002, i'd hate to try and chant his name from the terraces! lol
johnnywalker69
How exciting. If memory serves, the next emotion after this is abject disappointment...
Duggo
anyone else getting deja vu here. Haven't we heard this before from our dwarf manager. Oh just for the record boys we hada bid of £100,000 for Yakubu turned down, we also wanted to sign Beckham, Rooney and Ronaldo MacDonaldo too. Sorry but will believe ANY signing when it happens.

"One LUJ BOG OVITCH, there's only one LUJ BOG OVITC..... " Or "Goran, there's only one goran, there's only one goran.... " Or "He's big, he's game but we can't pronouce his name, Lj#yxbz*Q%,Lj#yxbz*Q%"
DB2002
What about Oliech? Thought he was on trial too - any news on that?
GameBurton07
Didn't they do this crap the season we were relegated from the prem? "We just bid £5m for Dani", magically it never happened but seemed to appease the fans somewhat until of course we ended up relegates......
Placebo
Yeah whatever happened to Oliech?
Smurf
Genius DB2002. I know it'll probably all lead to dissappointment next week but as Wednesday fans, hope is all we have!! I heard that the striker was Jason Euell.
Disgruntled Owl
Well I for one am riding on a wave of optimism, I can feel it in my bones. 3 players in at the same time. That means at least 2 must be on their way out of the door or the budgets shot to pieces. For Christs sake dont say whelen's off. Just fell off the surf board near to a sewage outlet, suddenly things dont look so rosey. Only joking, lets hope it all turns out as we would all like.
thewalkleyone
