Madjid Ponders Owls Reaction

Former Wednesday defender Madjid Bougherra admits he's unsure at what kind of reaction he'll get from the travelling Owls faithful during tomorrow's clash at the Valley.

The Algerian international fast became a fans favourite at Hillsborough at the start of last season after arriving in England from France before finally completing a move to the Premiership with Charlton in the January transfer window.

Bougherra will be facing his former colleagues sooner than he'd hoped after suffering relegation with the Addicks last season.

And the defender was full of praise for the Wednesday fans ahead of the vital Championship clash at the Volley tomorrow - and admits he's unsure of the reaction he'll get tomorrow afternoon.

'It's a big game for me in particular because it's against my last club,' Bougherra told the official Charlton website.

'I enjoyed my six months there. They have fantastic fans and at every game, home or away, they have many, many fans, so you play for the fans when you play for Sheffield Wednesday.

'Honestly, I want to see the reaction of their fans on Saturday, if they boo me or if they are behind me, because I do not know.'

Alan Pardew's men have got off to a poor start to life back in the Championship with just one point from their opening two matches, and Bougherra is hopeful he can help his side to all three points against an Owls side who sit bottom of the pile.

He added: 'They lost their first two games, we've lost one and got a draw, so both teams need to win.

'I know they play very good football with players like Kenny Lunt, Glenn Whelan and Deon Burton, and I know it will be a hard game.

'We need to be confident and make many attacks to score quickly. I think that if we can win we will start a good run. We need our first win, then we will be very confident.'

so the money grabbing "I'm better than you lot" numpty thinks he'll get a good reception, I hope he has a mare, gets booed all afternoon. Any player who left in a good sense would get a standing ovation, a money grabbing mercenary should be barracked all afternoon.

Charlton at home is the only game I'm really looking forward to apart from pigs, so I can heckle this moron to kingdom come. Doesn't know what kind of reception he will get? What a naive idiot.

Interesting that he sites Kenny Lunt as an example of our quality players.

Bitter then guys? It's never nice when a player moves on. But we would all do the same in our jobs for treble the salry. Sadly the only loyal ones in football is us the fans. Lets have a good game today with a CAFC win !!!

It amused me immensely last year that he hardly played a game for Charlton and then they got relegated. Ever heard of a contract Madjid? It's not something you blackmail your way out of by saying you'll never play again. Hope Whelan kicks him up in the air.
