Owls Target Sodje Brothers

Owls Target Sodje Brothers

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is hoping to make it a Sodje double before the transfer deadline after targeting Port Vale hitman Akpo Sodje to bolster his attacking options.

The Owls are already awaiting a decision from reading defender Sam Sodje after agreeing a fee and personal terms with the former Brentford centre-back at the start of last season.

And now Laws is hoping for some brotherly love to boost his squad after a poor start to the new season after having an offer of around £250,000 turned down for Sam's goalscoring brother, Akpo.

Vale are hoping to hold out for an improved offer from Wednesday while Laws is thought to be preparing a fresh raid for the 26-year-old after failing in a number of bids to bring new attacking options to Hillsborough.

Akpo bagged 16 goals for Vale last season and also picked up the club's player of the year award from adoring fans, depsite strike partner Leon Constantine bagging an impressive 26 goals last term.

And Vale could well be set to cash in on him sooner rather than later with the striker out of contract at Vale next summer.

The Owls are also reported to be chasing Ipswich and former Port Vale midfielder George O'Callaghan ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

Laws has made it clear he wants to strengthen his squad all over the pitch and Cork-born O'Callaghan could be the man he chooses to bolster his midfield options.

Just as I predicted, we would be forced into buying division 3 quality players because no one wants to come to Wednesday. Looks like a definite relegation dogfight this season. Now I'm glad the club's monumental incompetence prevented me from renewing a season ticket that I had had for 11 years. I predict a crowd of under 18,000 for the Bristol City match - let's hear what you think the gate will be and we'll see who gets closest.

george o'callahan and akpo sodje, and he expects us to fight for promotion with this. its a joke, why do we need a central midfielder? we need a winger a centre back and maybe a striker. our central midfield is good enough and not the major concern so strengthen what we need to, because if JJ or small get injured were buggered for the wings

Akpo hasn't madeanimpressive start to this season, and i'm amazed at the interest in him (apparently we've had interest from a Premiership club as well!). S ****horpe are reckoned to be in the hunt for his signature as well but I've got say I think he'll struggle in The Championship, he's not techniquely gifted but gives it everything.

burton has the technical side to him i think hes a good option for the bench sounds like were ready to sign four players our hungarian winger which is believed to be getting picked up from air port by an wednesday official, sam sodje which we just have an hold up with, his brother were we need to up our bid slightly and a centre mid. I think it all strengthens our team one way or another. The winger looks fantastic and is only 21 we all know the sodjes have that pace and power suited for certain games i.e stoke and i have no complaints on having another centre mid join us as long as he gives us options who we wanting to sign lads Ronaldo, Terry, Gerrard, and Owen

I'm not against this signing. I think it could take some of the pressure off Jeffers. Very concerned about the rumour that we're buying an Ipswich reserve misfielder. We have Whelan, Folly, Lunt, O'Brien, Watson and Hinds all of whom can play central midfield. I can't see the point. It was in the Sun though, so it's not exactly nailed on. I want to see us sign Sam Sodje, Igor Angula and a striker. I'd be happy with that. And assuming Whelan is still here next week, I want him given the Captaincy.
