Owls Chase Kavanagh

Wednesday are upping their bid to sign experienced Sunderland midfielder Graham Kavanagh to Hillsborough according to reports today.

Owls boss Brian Laws has made it public knowledge that he wants to strengthen his squad by bringing in loan players to help steer Wednesday off the bottom of the Championship table.

And The Daily Mail today reports Laws is looking to beat competition from Yorkshire rivals Leeds United to sign the former Republic of Ireland international to bolster his midfield.

The Dublin-born midfielder has made just ten appearances for the Black Cats since moving to the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2006 and is keen for a move to secure first team football.

Dennis Wise looked favourite to pen the midfielder to a deal at the League One club but it now looks as though Wednesday have entered the chase, with the hope that the lure of Championship football will help him opt for a move to South Yorkshire.

This would be a quality signing. Experienced midfielder to play along side Whelan, leaving Watson playing at the back with Wood. And the guy can strike a good dead ball too! Chris Brunt who?? lol
johnnywalker69
Will bolster up the midfield and a good signing if he comes.
will it ever happen
Ideal signing, a no nonsense type of player that dont take any ****.
Skeggy Owl
Gaaah this would be a terrible signing, he has absolutely no legs left :( We need someone with a little pace to help out the defence so they don't keep getting exposed over and over again like they have been doing.......
Placebo
We're crying out for experience though Placebo, not more youth!
johnnywalker69
And the ones that can run and have experience are all playing at a higher level. Pitty that.
thewalkleyone
Exactly!
johnnywalker69
why cant we play jonhson in the middle with whelan as holding spraying balls all over the park,jj could take 3 players out at once with a mazey run, that would give us a different option, with esijas and small on the wings,jj would open play right up ,please coment
donnyowl
we cant play johnson for the fact he isnt a central midfielder, if he goes on a mazy run n loses it, well be stuffed, whelan will just get swomped in the middle all the time, stupid idea
smiggyswfc
well thats that then kavanagh in and whelan out thanks alot mr allen & mr laws let a young emerging talent go & replace him with a 34yr old as been.
mick66owl
i see were all this moneys goin now spendin it all on debt wots the point if we get relegated that debt will come straight back if we got into the premiership even tho wed cum straigh back down it wud clear alot of debts and we cud build on tht
boothe
mr allen is just tekin is money back b4 we go 2 the wall
mick66owl
surely we need "youthful" experience. at 34, he must be approaching the end of his playing career, as must bullen (there already?) and watson(2 years left??) we need players in their mid 20's, with the desire and ambition to play for a club struggling toplan for the future. I can see no way forward while DA is in charge - he seems to realise that the fans don't want him, he can't afford (or is unwilling) to invest in the club in the required manner, and I think that he will, as soon as he can, take hi money and leave us, probably in the *****, we'll end up in administration. Leeds mk2!!
swfcjambo
jj doesnt look interested at times on the wing , to play him in centre mid would be HUGE mistake, we would , as mentioned above get overrunn in there. personally think kavanagh would be good signing at this level, he's been there done that and could be just what we need at this point.
wedtillidie
>"well thats that then kavanagh in and whelan out" Eh? WTF? I see nothing about either of those on any sites anywhere?
Placebo
Jesus just read the last few comments, where does it say Whelan is off? JJ in the middle. get real. He's probably the laziest player on the books, and no brain to boot. Head down, mazy run. Nah, not going to happen I hope. He needs to earn a place in the side (on the wing) be difficult for him with Small & Esajas in front of him.
thewalkleyone
predictions for sat.... Starting 11: Burch, Simek, Wood, Watson, Spurr, Esajas, Whelan, Folly, Small, Sodje, Burton <<< should be the starting 11. Score: Preston 1 SWFC 3 goals by Small, Sodje and Jeffers (as a second half sub) and if that happens ill eat my own feaces!!!
mansfieldowl
mansfieldowl, you dirty bas****, but tell me what it tasts like if we do win 3-1!!!!
will it ever happen
PLACEBO N THEWALKLEYDONKEY R U COMPLETEDLY MAD IT DUNT TEK A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO WORK IT OUT DUS IT ????? 1SY BRUNTS GOIN NO WHERE THAT WERNT ON ANY SITE THEN HES GON 2 WBA. WHELAN WIL B GON B4 XMAS N REPLACED BY SUMBODY 2 CUM IN PLAYIN 4 PEANUTS
mick66owl
Mick66owl. Who's chasing Whelan? Stoke? Brunt was supposedly being chased by a number of clubs. No doubt if anyone offers 1.5m we would sell. All I was saying is that other than rumour, the only certain fact is that he hasnt signed a new contract. I think it is inevitable Whelan will chase more money, and what we get will be someone not good enough to raise the standard and take us forward. But it aint happened yet, and A another coming in, isnt instead of Whelan, surely to god.
thewalkleyone
Mick you'd be more credible if you didn't post in caps and type horrendously like a frisky 12 year old ;)
Placebo
Now now Placebo am 13 not 12 a bit frisky though. You watch he will be at Stoke as soon as we get a cheap replacement in. Then Mr Allen will have sold our playing assets and will move onto the stadium we will enjoy home games at the dog track?? Sorry about the caps OR DO YOU MEAN CAPITALS. hope you can understand me now you have put me straight??
mick66owl
walkleyone i think we are more or less saying the same thing.
