Foxes Hunt Whelan

Wednesday have already seen a number of high profile players leave the club since last season, and another could be on his way if a former Owls legend has his way.

Glenn Whelan could soon be following Steve Maclean and Chris Brunt out of Hillsborough after Sunday's The People reported the Irish midfielder is a target of new Leicester City boss Gary Megson.

The former Republic of Ireland under-21 international is out of contract in South Yorkshire at the end of the season and Wednesday could well cash in of their midfield maestro rather than risk losing him for next to nothing at the end of the season.

And Megson knows Whelan only too well, having frequented Hillsborough a number of times as a fan whilst being out of work following being sacked as manager of Nottingham Forest.

The former Wednesday man, whose father Don is also a legend at S6, could well see Whelan as the man to bolster the Foxes midfield and shoot them up the table after an indifferent start which saw Martin Allen sacked after just a number of games in charge.

Whelan is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at Wednesday and has already been linked with a number of clubs including Premiership Reading and Wednesday's Championship rivals Stoke City.

The midfielder arrived at Hillsborough under Chris Turner's reign as Owls boss and impressed during his first season at Wednesday which saw the Owls promoted from League One, and has since gone on to bag the Owls' player-of-the-season gong last term.

It would just cap it wouldnt it?! can you blame him tho? weve got no ambition whatsoever, but neednt worry dave allen/brian laws have got there eye on a concrete block as a suitable replacement...... w*an*ers
mansfieldowl
sure someone from scunny reserves will be interested.....
swfcjambo
Whenever we let a goal in, lose a game or fail to score........its allen out, allen out. Im sick of it, we have got the players capable of winning matches!!!!!!!! for gods sake dave allen is not in the starting 11, stop pointing the finger at him. We should be saying Bullen out, Bullen out and Grant out, Grant out, after all they made the cock ups.
Bigash
unfortunately the only reason we are forced to depend on the likes of hinds, grant and bullen is because allen and laws have sold off the likes of bougherra and replaced them with the aformentioned rammle, so unfortunately the buck stops with the management
mansfieldowl
If he goes we go to league1
will it ever happen
Bigash are u mr allen in disguise????? i think you are arent you?? my god man carn't you see wots happening you wont your money back and you are stripping the clubs assets(the players) then you will sell the club from underneath us?
mick66owl
Careful what you say guys ! u might end up in court lol
duds
DUDS mate he can take me to court you carn't take nothing from nothing can you?
mick66owl
That's fair enough mick, the whole things a shambles at the minuet, sooner it's sorted 1 way or the other the better.
duds
No im not dave allen, but i know he see's the club as a business. It might be hard for you to understand mick66owl, but dave allen is an owl. He replaced Maclean with Jeffers, Brunt with Esajas, and Wood returned as Bougghera departed. The proposed takeover took everyone by shock as it collapsed and thats why Brunt and Maclean left!!! But 3m for Brunt, What a deal!
Bigash
bigash you make some valid points ,now dont get me wrong i aint his biggest fan, far from it but this allen bashing has to stop sometime, its not helpin anyone, id sooner use my voice to get behind the lads. when we went unbeaten in 11 at the end of last season i didnt hear one allen out . we do have quality players who can win games lets get behind the team tomorrow night , then maybe we can get the win we are desperate for, like really desperate!!! COME ON YOU BLUE AND WHITE WIZARDS!!!
wedtillidie
amen to that, lol
Bigash
NO BIG ASH mr allen isn't an owl he is a pigeon fancier who was begged by a previous board to come on for the business side of the things. so far to his credit he as probably stopped us goin like leeds have gone hahahaha. but he doesn't adhere himself to the fans and prospective buyers with such a childish attitude. i don't really want to go over old ground but the biggest example of its my bat n ball (my way or get lost) remember acouple of months ago to a press conference what an example to set ???
mick66owl
yes you are correct he has replaced mclean/brunt but jeffers isnt in same league as mclean is he? and at the moment ejasas looks ok. but wot about letting coughlan go no replacement there hills gone no replacement its defenders we need as the goals conceded column suggests
mick66owl
mick just what I have been sayin for ages mate
Holl
well now i think its all wednesdyites fault now theyve made allen gett mardy n be spiteful so he dunt put no money into club its obvious he wants to leave but cant cos none will buy wednesday n if he just quits wednesday will definetly be introuble cos no one will come to be wednesdays chairman come on just sell him the shares cos ur just as bad as allen
