Pressure Mounting On Laws

Pressure Mounting On Laws

It may only be five games in to the new Championship season but Owls boss Brian Laws is already one of the bookies favourites for the next man to lose his job.

Wednesday remain the only team in English football yet to bag a point after enduring their worst ever start to the season with five straight defeats, leaving them rock bottom of the Championship.

And although matters off the field at Hillsborough are somewhat overshadowing the poor performance on it, the Owls gaffer is coming under increasing pressure to get results and get his charges out of trouble and up at the right end of the table.

Laws himself revealed that the next two games - at home to Burnley tonight and Hull City at the weekend - are vital for his future as the Owls look to drag themselves off the bottom.

And today's Sun (yes, we know) is reporting that Owls chairman Dave Allen has given Laws four weeks to turn around the fortunes of the club, or face the boot after just under a year in charge at S6.

And to make matters worse, former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock is being touted as a possible replacement for the former Scunthorpe United and Grimsby boss.

Allen has proved he isn't afraid to wield the axe after sacking Paul Sturrock in October of last season after a similar poor start to the campaign, and he could strike again as he looks to improve the fortunes of the club on the pitch.

contary to my comments yesterday, i dont want to see brian booted out, it must of taken a lot of b*ll*cks to leave Scunthorpe after 10 years of success so we should reward him with more time.... however something has to give and if we are still in the bottom 3 come late oct/ early november then ..... well you get the idea

whats the point of sacking laws?..who else is going to come to wednesday whilst this board are in charge..the situation would still be the same if alex fergerson was the manager..no money and no support from the board..laws will turn it round mansfieldowl dont worry..it starts tonight..get down to s6 and sing your hearts out for the lads like i will!

No point at all, but when you're rock bottom and the only team in the country without a point there's always a risk of losing your job.

Im all for sticking with him, Houdini managed to escape several times even with his hands chained and padlocked. Laws has been given a raw deal by the board. On one hand selling his better players, then not backing him to bring in quality replacements. Boughara and Brunt deals were common sense, both wanted more than the club could afford, and we got a good price for them. However,in both cases, we were led to believe that there was a plan B in place, and there wasnt. Same with McClean. Im not confident that there wont be alot of Allen out chants from the off. I wont be one of them. Although I would like him to go.

It's gonna happen - Laws out, someone in (please please please not Neil Warnock (anagram colin wan*er!!). Team will start to do well, there will be no pressure on allen anymore, things will look rosy for 6 months THEN IT WILL ALL HAPPEN AGAIN. this happens every time. We need Allen out, not laws. As for colin, everyone must remember has comments from 3-4 years ago - he'd love to manage wednesday, so he can buy lots of crap players, get them relegated then **** off and retire in cornwall at wednesday's expense. WE CAN@T ALLOW THIS MAN IN!!!! the only long term solution to this mess is a takeover - ALLEN OUT NOW!!!!!!
