Owls Bag Kavanagh

Wednesday have completed their second loan signing in as many days with Sunderland midfielder Graham Kavanagh arriving at Hillsborough on a one month emergency loan.

The Irishman was keen to stay at the Premiership club and fight for his place but it looks as though Black Cats boss Roy Keane doesn't see the former Cardiff City midfielder in his immediate plans.

The 33-year-old has a vast amount of experience in the Championship and will go straight in to the Owls squad to face Hull City on Saturday.

And Owls boss Brian Laws was delighted to secure his second experienced loan signing in as many days.

He told the official Owls website: 'I am delighted that Graham Kavanagh has decided to join us because several other clubs were interested in him. He is a top player and will bring many qualities to our squad in the coming weeks.'

Laws was desperate to bolster his squad with experience following Wednesday's disastrous start to the new season which sees them propping up the rest of the Championship having lost all six games so far this season.

It's thought the Owls beat off competition from rivals Sheffield United and Leeds United for the signature of the former Republic of Ireland international.

The Dubliner will add experience to a young Owls side, having played almost 300 games in the Championship for a number of clubs including Stoke City, Cardiff and Wigan.

Well something had to give and it appears that the manager and indeed the chairman were not blind to it. Lets hope that they can slot straight in. Thats my positive slant on it.

Kavanagh and Whelan in midfield would allow Watson to go to center back. I would play Wood alongside him and stick Johnson at left-back (he can play there). Out goes Spurr, who is truely awful and, for a 19-year-old, has no pace, tackling skills or skill going forward. If we still have 0 points by Saturday evening Laws will be a goner.

was it not spurr who left his man free in the build up for burnleys first goal!! absolute *****e he is!! hills wasnt great but was better than gilbert n spurr put together!! 2 good signings!! just worries bout jay jay okocha!!

Calm down guys Spurr has great defensive ability!!!!!!, but when he has possension pf the ball, he is very panicky and well its like all our squad. We are a confidence bunch, when we havnt got any we are shocking. Dave Allen likes Brian Laws, i get the feeling.......and guys for gods sake Maclean had little movement, next to no pace, but good posistioning. Jeffers will be better than him, but no one seems to want to give this lad a chance.
