Who Are Yer?: Hull City

We made our way on to the Vital Hull City forum to ask the Tigers' fans what we can expect from their team on Saturday, and whether Jay Jay will be playing!

--------------------------------------------

1. Whats your start to the season been like?

Up and downish I guess. Should never have lost to Plymouth on the opening day of the season, but we've lost only once since then. Highlight so far would be a tossup between the Carling Cup win over Wigan and the win on Tuesday night over Wolves.

2. Who were the major movers and shakers over the summer?

We finally got rid of Jon Parkin, which, considering Stoke paid a few hundred K for him wasn't a bad move. Darryl Duffy wandered off to Swansea, where he'd had a good spell on loan. He was unlucky to come into a team that couldn't play it his way. Coming in, Bryan Hughes looks to be good in the midfield, Wayne Brown has solidifed the back four, Caleb Folan has pace and quality to offset the guile and craft of Dean Windass. So we're reasonably happy with things.

3. Jay Jay Okacha, some signing eh?

You're not kidding!!! We can't still believe it, but the Bolton connection to Phil Brown is paying off again. Once our players get used to playing in the spaces Jay Jay creates then I would watch out for the Tigers.

4. What about Phil Brown, is he the right man for the job?

At the start, quite a number weren't sure, and last season his 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation did enough to keep City up. This season his hand has been forced somewhat and he's gone back to 4-4-2, and its working. As usual he talks a good game, but behind that, there's definitely some promise.

5. What are your aims for the season?

Mid table would be nice to start with, after the struggles of the previous seasons. Given the quality of the team at the moment, only injuries would be likely to drag us into the danger area.

6. Who are your danger men?

Need you ask?? Okocha for a start, Caleb Folan, if fit, will outpace most defenders. Windass will glide around in first gear but lose him for a second and you've got trouble.

7. What are your weaknesses?

Depending on the forwards it can be the centre backs. They seem to struggle against big physical players but can deal with pacey tricky ones quite easily. Left back is a worry that will have to be dealt with at some point.

8. What's your most memorable Owls v Tigers match?

4-2 back in 2004 at Hillsborough! Sorry but thats it. Over the years you've creamed us so it was nice to get a small measure of revenge in a cracking atmosphere.

9. How do you think we'll do this season?

IF you can get the team sorted, I think somewhere between 14th and 19th is possible, but you will need to buckle down and fight. Can they do that?

10. What's your score prediction?

SWFC 0 HCFC 1 - We haven't failed to score yet this season, and with Okocha pulling the strings,I fancy our chances.
