Johnson Fancies Owls Deal

Loanee Michael Johnson could soon be saying 'deal' to a long-term contract at Hillsborough after revealing he'd love to sign on for the Owls after his loan spell ends next month.

The Derby County defender arrived at Hillsborough last week on a one-month emergency loan deal from Pride Park, and kicked-off his Owls career by bagging the man-of-the-match honours in the Owls' 1-0 victory over Hull at the weekend.

And the 34-year-old revealed on Radio Sheffield that he'd love to sign an 18-month deal at Hillsborough come the end of his S6 loan deal.

And Owls boss Brian Laws is unlikely to turn down the chance to bag the Birmingham-born defender after singing Johnson's praises following the Owls' first points of the season.

'They all deserve credit but if there was ever a man of the match then Michael Johnson deserved it,' he told the official SWFC website.

'He has come in having not played a first team game since March and was absolutely awesome,' Laws enthused. 'He made the right decisions and interceptions and that was what we needed. We got a clean sheet through it and that is another big boost.

'You could see the stature of our players grow with the quality he has brought with him, alongside Graham Kavanagh. They both breezed in and made a big impact on the game.'

Fine by me. Think we need to ship out some of those not up to it though. Bullen out and then back as a coach at the end of the season. Lunt out as quick as humanly possible. Maybe get O'Brien out too and see if we can nab Kavanagh.

18 months sounds good to me too, maybe captain material on top of that...

problem is though, derby are the whipping boys of the premier league at the minute and if they eventually realise they have an absolute garbage defender in claude davis, then they may want johnson back... maybe?

Don't mess about with this one Laws. Get the board to approve (how can they not?) and get him signed. He hasn't started for Derby since March! Future Owls legend and captain material. Remember the Johnson!
