Woods Anticipating Tough Tie

Former Wednesday stopper Chris Woods has revealed that he's anticipating a tough tie when his Everton side travel to Hillsborough for their Carling Cup tie on Wednesday night.

The former England goalkeeper enjoyed a successful five-year spell at Hillsborough but will be sitting in the opposition dugout on Wednesday as the goalkeeper coach of Everton.

And Woods isn't expecting an easy ride against the Owls, despite sitting rock bottom of the Championship after seven games of the season already gone.

'It's a club that should be playing in the Premier League,' he told EvertonTV.

'The fanbase is enormous. When I was playing it was a sell out every other week at home. They deserve better. It is probably going to be a long road back to the Premier League but hopefully one day they will do it.

And although Hillsborough won't be anywhere near as packed to the rafters as the former Owls' number one remembers, Woods is expecting a decent atmosphere for an 'old fashioned cup tie'.

He added: 'They will be right up for it. There will be a good crowd, and it's not going to be an easy game.

'We will have to go out there and give it our all.

'There should be a good atmosphere and it could well be an old fashioned cup tie.'
