Owls striker Leon Clarke is making many Wednesday fans eat their words as he bangs in goal after goal at Southend, but it seems like he could be on his way there for good.

It seems like a regular feature on Vital Sheffield Wednesday since the former Wolves man made his loan switch to the League One club, as he continues to find the onion bag on a regular basis with the Shrimpers.

Clarke netted the opening goal and stole the limelight with his sublime finish as Southend recorded a 2-1 victory away at Port Vale on Saturday.

The goal means the 22-year-old has netted four goals in as many games since making the loan switch to Southend, and helping the Shrimpers charge towards the play-off spots in League One following a hit and miss start.

And the fine form of the hitman could well mean Wednesday fans have seen the last of him donning the famous blue and white stripes, with Wednesday hinting that a full-time deal has already been sorted out between the two clubs once Clarke's loan spell comes to an end in January.

The signing of Clarke by Brian Laws has come under question from the fans, despite the Owls' boss keeping faith with his man, but he could well be set to bite the bullet and let him move on in search of regular first team football.

There's no way we should be looking to offload him when he's young, has potential to get better, has good physical attributes, clearly knows how to score, as well as link up with other players (on his debut for Southend he created 2 of their goals and scored their 3rd himself), and most importantly for the Owls board I bet his wages are nothing like those of Burton, Lunt, O'brien, Bullen. Those four we should be offloading because we have cover and they are being paid for little return. If Clarke ends up being sold I blame the scummy Hillsborough boo boys who never gave him a chance, **** you to each and every one of you who booed him when he was trying to get match fit and adjust to the team and players around him :(

Sorry Placebo, but I just don't think he's good enough and didn't do anything to show that when he was with us. Just think hes found his level.

I agreed with you all the way until you said get rid of Deon Burton, he's the best striker we've got, you can play him with Jeffers/Tudgay/Sodje. The partnership of Tudgay/Jeffers isnt gud enough, Sodje/Jeffers is crap too. I think Jeffers/Burton is the best by far we've got to offer and now the manager has realised it too.

If Wednesday are going to make a profit on Clarke then i think he will go, just depends on what Southend offer.

we all saw clarke last season and he was awfull, i myself never booed him but it was clear he will never be the player we need to fire us into the premiership, he will b an ok league 1 striker/tagetman, but that isnt enough in the championship

i think clarke has found his league not gud enough 4 the champonship and gud enough 4 league 1! so offlod him while we can! burton and jeffers will gel and get us those goals! it will happen 2mora at watford! u watch

I think he can make it in the Championship and hope it is with us. There is something thier that makes me he could become a decent striker. He's big and powerfull and he does know where the net is, not like some of the others down here. Lets get behind him if he does come back and give him a chance that he deserves.

Im sure a sell on clause will be the key to any deal, Leon isn't good enough for us, placebo don't forget the league he is playing in, he just never looks hungry enough to improve, I think he is content playing in a lower league where he can score goals, maybe playing in front of smaller crowds also has helped him and I hope it goes well for the kid but we need better quality than he can offer

leon clarke isnt gud enough for the championship but a league 1 he looks on top of his game id say bring him back give him 1 more go cos hes match fit if he has no clue what he id doing sell him. we have plenty of strikers anyway. jeffers, tudgay, burton, sodje
