Owls boss Brian Laws bemoaned the slow start which cost Wednesday at least a share of the spoils in the 2-1 defeat to table-toppers Watford on Tuesday night.
Two goals in the first 15 minutes from Darius Henderson and Marlon King gave the Owls a tough task to get anything from the clash with Aidy Boothroyd's men at Vicarage Road.
And Laws insists the 'men against boys' scenario for the first 20 minutes of the clash cost his men.
'It was disappointing, I thought they bullied us in the first 20 minutes and you can see why they are effective in this division; they are very strong form set plays and it was men against boys in the first 20 minutes,' he told the official SWFC site.
'But the response I got from the players was outstanding and if they had shown anyhting like that throughout the game we would have got something out of the game, if not won it.'
The Owls gaffer was also lef tot bemoan a penalty claim from Etienne Esajas that was waved away from the man in black, but is sure his men will reap their rewards if they perform against Leicester on Saturday.
He added: 'I thought that if they had a claim for a penalty that was a bit iffy then we should have probably had one too when Etienne Esajas was brought down in the second half. But if we play anything like that on Saturday then we should get a win.'
Amd Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd was full of praise for former Owls target Henderson, who bagged the opening goal of the night.
'In the first half an hour we played some wonderful stuff. It was everything we had worked on but then it got scrappy and we never found our form,' he told BBC Sport.
'We've got some very good individuals but we only play as a team intermittently. That will come from time on the pitch but it bodes well to be top when we're not playing particularly well. We are on schedule for our points target.
'Darius brings a fear factor to our games now. Defenders in this division are scared of him and rightly so because he scores goals.'
