Laws Reveals Turner Interest

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed he was showing an interest in Everton stopper Iain Turner - before he got sidelined for five months through injury.

The Scottish stopper had already enjoyed a superb loan spell with the Owls towards the end of last season which helped boost Wednesday up the table in his 11 games in between the sticks.

And with the Owls languishing at the wrong end of the Championship table this season, and the revelation from Laws that new stoppers Lee Grant and Rob Burch have failed to live up to expectations, the Owls gaffer revealed he was pondering a move for the Everton 'keeper.

'He was sensational when he was here. But he's just gone in for an operation and will be out for about five months,' he told BCC Radio Sheffield.

'Of course we've considered it but it all boils down to finance in the end and whether we've got the funds to do it.'

Toffees boss David Moyes was keen to hold on to Turner at the start of this season as the Owls looked to push for a full transfer for the stopper.

But since then, the Scot has rapidly fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park and is now fourth choice stopper for the Blues, prompting Wednesday to show an interest before his injury.

very easy to say we were going for him when we he knows we have no chance of getting him, just another chapter in the big book of bull***** from wednesday, i particularly liked chapter 2, our supposed bid for rasiak of 2 mill

More garbage. I was gonna fly a spaceship to the moon, then the alarm went off and it was time to go to work. Wish they wouldnt even come out with the crap. If we had the money to both buy and pay Gregor Rasiaks wages, why are we struggling to find the money to extend the loans of 2 players. Bit of honesty required. Come on lads, youve got my season ticket money, no need for any more spin.
