Laws Hopeful Over Kav

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is hopeful of extending the loan deal of on-loan Sunderland midfielder Graham Kavanagh despite revealing the Owls may not be able to afford it.

Earlier in the week, Laws insisted that falling gates at Hillsborough this season could mean and end to loan deals for both Kavanagh and fellow loanee Michael Johnson.

But the Owls gaffer has revealed he will talk to Black Cats boss Roy Keane over a possible extension of the former Republic of Ireland international, whose loan deal at S6 expires following Saturday's clash with his former club Stoke City.

'I intend speaking to Roy Keane about it in the hope we can secure an extension of the loan,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

The former Stoke City and Cardiff man has had a big impact on the Owls squad, helping Wednesday to their first two wins of the season against Hull City and Norwich City respectively, also netting in the close fought 2-1 defeat to Watford.

And Wednesday fans will be hoping Laws can strike a deal with the Premiership club to extend the loan deal of the experienced midfield man.
