Owls Confirm Jeffers Setback

Wednesday have confirmed the bad news that striker Francis Jeffers is expected to be sidelined for three months following the ankle injury picked up against Stoke on Saturday.

The former Arsenal and Everton man was subject of a crunching tackle from Stoke's Ryan Shawcross midweay through the first half in the victory over Tony Pulis' men which saw him stretchered off in agony.

And Owls boss Brian Laws has confirmed his worst fears - that the former Everton trainee, recruited from Blackburn Rovers in the summer, will be out for around three months.

Laws told the Sheffield Star: 'Although the ankle isn't broken, the damage is equivalent to a break.'

Jeffers has endured a torrid time with injuries throughout his career and was hoping to put them to one side following his summer move to Hillsborough for £750,000.

But the 'fox in the box' is yet to complete a match for the Owls, despite scoring a wonder goal in their 1-0 win over Hull City last month, and has suffered a further blow with his new setback.
