Laws Rules Out Clarke Return

Calls to bring Leon Clarke back from his loan spell at Southend United have fallen on deaf ears with Owls boss Brian Laws ruling out a return for the frontman.

The former Wolves man has been in tip-top form for the Shrimpers by bagging seven goals in eight games since making the loan switch to the League One club - and his form has seen Wednesday fans calling for his return to S6.

But the Owls boss has told BBC Radio Sheffield that Clarke will not be making a pre-mature return to Hillsborough, although he could approach the Owls' board to seek cover for the injured Francis Jeffers.

The news will see rumours re-surface that a deal has already been put in place to see Clarke remain at Southend when his loan spell ends in January, with the Owls set to receive a fee similar to that what they paid Wolves earlier this year.

But Wednesday could yet see a new hitman arrive at the club in the coming weeks, with Laws looking for a replacement for Jeffers, who is set to be sidelined for at least three months following an ankle injury picked up in the 4-2 victory at Stoke City at the weekend.

Marcus Tudgay, Deon Burton and Akpo Sodje are all fit and ready to prove themselves in the coming weeks but Laws could well seek some money to bring a new loan player in until the Owls' 'fox in the box' returns to action.

It might just be that we can't recall him, which would be a bit daft and typical of the way the club is being run.

YEP MUST selling him to southend if we are looking for a loan signing
mick66owl
best to leave him there anyway and bag 15-20 goals by january n he'll come back a very good, confident striker!!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
So now we have to wait and hope we can get the funds for a loan signing for 3 months for a player who may or may not turn out decent? Despite us having a more than decent, brimming with confidence player of our own on loan to Southend? If the issue is that there's no return clause why the ***** not just come out and say that instead of ambiguous bull***** that just leads to speculation "ruled it out" what the hell is that supposed to mean?
Placebo
YEP your rite placebo no B******s lets just cum out and say it then put rumours to bed eitha get sum 1 in or jus say no money we are goin with wot weav 4 now

Southend have obviously agreed a fee for January, the player is happy there, so they aint going to do anything. Laws has surely one more game in charge, part of me hopes we lose Saturday cos im sick of the absolute rubbish he comes out with. However reported or interpreted, what he said regarding the support and stay away fans was an absolute disgrace. If I hadnt spend over a £1000 on season tickets I wouldnt go, and that after 38 consecutive years as a season ticket holder. Absolute garbage. P**s off Allen, P**s off Walker & P**s off Laws. Absolute Shambles and a disgrace.
