Kav Recalled

Owls loanee Graham Kavanagh will return to Premiership side Sunderland once his one-month loan deal has expired after this Saturday's home clash with Blackpool.

Owls boss Brian Laws was keen to hold on to the experienced midfielder to help the Owls climb out of their current sticky situation near the bottom of the Championship.

But Black Cats boss Roy Keane said he would make a decision on the future of the Irishman this week - and the former Manchester United man has decided to give Kav his chance in the big time.

The former Cardiff and Stoke man arrived at Hillsborough with the intention of returning to Sunderland once he built up his match fitness in the blue and white of Wednesday.

And he enjoyed a fine spell at S6, helping Wednesday to their first two wins of the season against Hull City and Norwich City respectively, while also playing in the victory over his former club Stoke at the weekend.

The departure of the 33-year-old will leave Laws with a gap to fill in the centre of midfield following Saturday's game with Blackpool, although Steve Watson could well be fit to return and slot in alongside Glenn Whelan.

Actually. He played like a bloke who knows he aint going to be here longer than Saturday. He was crap, and that goes for johnson as well. What happened to the belief Laws has installed. What a load of rubbish. They were awful again, time to pack your bags Brian. Any chance of the Chairman deciding he isnt good enough either? Is that deflametory? ah well.

Don't think he's great but he's better than we've got - think Whelan has avoided some deserved criticism just by using the ploy of not doing anything in games and hoping no-one notices! Bring back Folly I say - he's got to be worth another shot in there

looks like im off to specsavers then!! obviously every one has their own opinion , and i cant deny that whelan hasnt been any where near what he was last year, but i have not missed a game home or away this year and i think he has done quite well in spells and his grit and determination are something we dont really have in any other player at the club agree with the comments above about folly, when kav goes back id give him a go in there

I will have a gentlemans bet with anyone that kav signs on loan for another championship club within no time, lets face it we are relegation fodder, grant is useless, we are clueless in midfield and inept up front ( stoke result aside) it winds me up when people behind the scenes believe we have strengthened the squad this year ( listen to karen walker ooops I mean kaven, interviews on bbc radio sheffield site) we seriously need to get someone in who knows his a*** from his elbow , i still believe we should have kept hills, macca, coughlan and brunt ( fair enough I don't want players that don't want to be there, but the club needs to be held partly responsible for this ) and we need two goal keepers cos ours are diabolical, might as well get brad jones back!!?? couldn't be any worse???!

people cant slate whelan, he is the only one (from what ive seen) who puts any effort into games, he plays fopr the club which is more than most of them do, yea he hasnt been playing well but its hard when you have to do the job of about 10 other players

I don't think Whelan has been putting his heart into the games at all. He's been hiding - didn't notice him til 2nd half on Tues. And don't get me started on Spurr - out of position and at fault for both goals. Useless - rather have Beever in there
