Woody's Six Week Setback

The bad luck just keeps on coming for young defender Richard Wood, with the Wakefield-born defender being sidelined for a further six weeks.

The Owls' academy product had only just recovered from a previous injury before being stretchered off with a dislocated shoulder in Wednesday's 2-1 defeat against Scunthorpe at Hillsborough on Tuesday night.

And boss Brian Laws has revealed that he expects his defender to be out for at least six weeks, just days after striker Francis Jeffers also suffered a huge setback.

He told the Sheffield Star: 'In two games we have suffered two big losses: Jeffers and Wood. I think Woody will be out for six weeks, at least.'

The news means Laws will have to chop and change his side again for the visit of Blackpool on Saturday, but has beenn boosted with the news that loanee Michael Johnson has extended his stay at S6 for a further month from Derby County.
