'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Laws Pleased With 'Gritty' Show

Owls boss Brian Laws was delighted with the 'grit and determination' his charges showed as they came away from Home Park with all three points on Saturday.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake netted from the spot two minutes after the restart but goals from Akpo Sodje and Burton O'Brien gave Wednesday a somewhat unexpected victory at high flying Plymouth.

And the Owls gaffer insists the latest string of results will hopefully see Wednesday start to turn their season around after a record-breaking poor start to the campaign.

'We had an embarrassing start to the season but we are now starting to pick up. That result will give us more of an edge to our game and a little bit more belief,' Laws told the official Owls website.

'It was a poor start to the second half, giving a penalty away and it could have been worse. I spoke to the full back and it was a penalty. He was the last man as well but he got caught on the inside, which is sacrilege for a full back.

'But the response was important to us. Would we have responded like that in the first six games? I think that's highly unlikely but we now have steel and determination in our side to say we can get it back to 1-1.'

It's Wednesday's second win on the spin away from home, something which has delighted the Owls' gaffer.

He added: 'It's not easy coming here because they have made their game a real fortress. We went to Stoke and their ground was a real fortress and we broke it and we broke one again today. Not many people come to Plymouth and get three points but we have done that. We have a long journey home but it will be much sweeter now.'

Put in the effort and you will get the results. Now showing some good form at last. Need to keep it up and a play-off spot wont be out of the question.

Two wins in a row and both from a goal down. Could things be looking up for you?
