The Owls' last clash with Southampton last season brings back great memories for Wednesday fans, and one man in particular who scored his first professional goal - at the age of 37.
It was just over a year ago when on-loan stopper Mark Crossley arrived in the Southampton penalty box in the final minute with Owls 3-2 down, to bag a dramatic late leveller for Wednesday.
Grzegorz Rasiak and former Owl Kenwyne Jones had put George Burley's pen in a commanding position at 2-0 up after just 26 minutes before Glenn Whelan reduced the deficit minutes later.
But the game looked done and dusted five minutes in to the second half when Bradley Wright-Phillips regained the Saints' two goal cushion, despite another effort from Whelan with 20 minutes to go which kept Brian Laws' men in with a shout of a share of the spoils.
And there was just seconds left on referee Mathieson's watch when Crossley sprinted, or should I say trundled, forward for one last gasp effort as the Owls packed the Southamtpon box for one last throw of the dice from a corner.
And the former Wales international, who had enjoyed a fine start to his loan career at S6 from Fulham, leapt above everyone in the box to somehow bundle the ball in to the back of the net and wheel away in celebration to give the Owls some Christmas cheer.
Saints boss George Burley records the events all too well, and is confident that lighning won't strike twice when the two teams meet again at Hillsborough on Saturday.
'It was an incredible game here last season when their goalkeeper ran the length of the pitch and nodded it into the net,' Burley told the official Southampton website in the build up to the clash.
'That was unusual to say the least but I don't think lighting can strike twice.'
Crossley has since departed S6 and move to League One side Oldham, but you know what to do, Granty...
