Sodje Starting To Settle

New Owls recruit Akpo Sodje is fast becoming a fans' favourite at Hillsborough after his arrival from Port Vale - and Wednesday boss Brian Laws is delighted with performances.

Sodje arrived at Hillsborough under a slight question mark, with many fans wondering whether Akpo's arrival was a panic buy from Laws during a tough start to the season for the Owls.

But the hitman has grown and grown in confidence each week, resulting in a huge standing ovation after netting two goals in the 5-0 rout of Southampton at the weekend.

And Laws is confident there is more to come from the striker, who is 'oozing' with confidence following his superb performances in recent weeks which have draw the plaudits and silenced his critics.

'Sodje came into a struggling team and this is a big football club,' Laws told the official SWFC website.

'It has probably shocked him in that sense and it has probably taken him a while to find his feet but he got that first goal at Plymouth and you could see him ooze with confidence.'

And although Wednesday suffered a huge blow with the news that Francis Jeffers will be missing until January at least, Laws insists Akpo is more than filling in for the 'fox in the box'.

Laws continued: 'Today he has got a couple of goals and they're not tap-ins are they? They were outstanding and I can't wait to see his second goal again, it has come from a very acute angle but he has blasted it in the back of the net.

'He has not only scored the goals but he has worked hard as well. We have had a massive jolt with Jeffers missing but Sodje has come in and said 'you don't have to miss him.''

What can I say...his quality is staring to shine and I think over the next month or so we are going to see an awful lot more from Sodje as he scores more goals and his confidence grows. Hes a good tall target man but can also create havoc in thebox which is something we have lacked at Hillsborough for a number of years. I think with Sodje up front the christmas period could be very exciting ! UP THE OWLS !!!

He's bloody fast too - did you see him shift in the box to pick up Whelan's pass that led to the penalty??? ***** off a shovel springs to mind!
SuperOwls
Don't say that mick66. He is incredibly fast. If you see the Plymouth highlights for the second goal he was the one who headed the ball out of the box and was the first to congratulate BOB lol.

I thought you had wasted your money on him, but now he looks a quality striker, all players need is confidence.

He surprised me on Saturday, didn't realise he was that quick! But it does look like he has got some confidence in him and he has found his scoring boots. Keep it up Akpo.
will it ever happen
